Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Temporary Water System Technician is responsible for performing routine system-level monitoring, inspection, and maintenance support of the purified water system used in the manufacture of medical devices, OTC drug products, and cosmetic products. This role focuses on mechanical and operational performance of the water system, including pressure, flow, membrane condition, and sanitization systems, to ensure the system operates within validated parameters and remains in a state of control.
Note:
Laboratory testing (TOC, conductivity, and microbiological testing) is performed internally by Quality. This position is responsible for the system operation and infrastructure, not laboratory testing. The responsibilities of the water operator are, 1. Monthly System Monitoring Perform scheduled monthly system inspections , including: Pressure readings across RO system and distribution loop Flow rate verification Tank levels and loop circulation performance Ozone generator functionality and injection performance UV system operational status (intensity, alarms, runtime) Chlorine/chloramine verification in feed water Verify system is operating within established and validated parameters Identify and report abnormal conditions or early signs of drift 2. RO & Pretreatment System Oversight Inspect and assess: RO membrane performance (pressure differential, rejection trends) Pre-treatment systems (carbon beds, filters, softeners) Identify early indicators of: Membrane fouling or scaling Chlorine/chloramine breakthrough Reduced system efficiency 3. TOC, UV, and Ozone System Oversight Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of: TOC analyzer (system status, alarms, calibration readiness, tubing/lines) UV systems (lamp status, intensity monitoring, replacement intervals) Ozone generation system (output performance, injection, destruct units if applicable) Verify systems are operating effectively to support: Organic control (TOC reduction) Microbial control within the distribution system Identify performance degradation and coordinate corrective actions 4. Maintenance & Vendor Coordination Perform or assist with: Routine inspection of system components (filters, valves, housings) Basic preventive maintenance activities Coordinate with third-party vendors for: Repairs Preventive maintenance Specialized servicing (e.g., ozone or UV system support) 5. System Performance Review Review internal trending data (provided by Quality), including: TOC Conductivity Microbial results Correlate laboratory trends with system performance indicators (e.g., pressure, UV intensity, ozone output) 6. Documentation & Compliance Complete all documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready records
Escalate:
Out-of-range conditions Signs of system drift or failure Support investigations by providing system-level input and observations

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical or trade certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with purified water or industrial water systems
  • Hands-on experience with: Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems Water distribution loops TOC analyzers, UV systems, and ozone generation systems Experience with Evoqua or similar systems preferred
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Effective communication and documentation skills Time Management Performs work within the expected timeline Communicate and report all status and any issues to affected departments in a timely manner when needed.
Provide data interpretation and other assistance as required
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb as needed
  • Ability to work around mechanical equipment and water systems
