Dell USA L.P. is seeking aPrincipal Engineer, Technical Support at its Round Rock, Texas facility.
Duties:
Provide advanced break/fix troubleshooting guidance for frontline engineers and enterprise customers, focusing on Dell PowerEdge servers, including AI-optimized PowerEdge XE platforms and Dell Cloud infrastructure. Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving CPU, memory, NVMe storage, PCIe accelerators, and high-performance networking components, such as InfiniBand and NVIDIA GPUs used in AI workloads. Utilize system management tools and command-line utilities across Linux environments such as RHEL and Ubuntu, to perform root cause analysis, firmware and BIOS troubleshooting, and system-level performance optimization across Dell AI and cloud platforms. Support integrated cloud infrastructure solutions, such as VxRail, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) on VxRail, vSAN, NSX-T, and ESXi, deployed in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Provide technical resolution for deployment, configuration, and operational issues, ensuring seamless integration between AI hardware and cloud platforms, applying knowledge of hardware-to-cloud interoperability. Collaborate with the engineering, Sustaining Engineering (SE), and cross-functional teams to identify systemic product issues, escalate bugs, and contribute to product reliability and support process improvements. Document technical findings, resolution steps, and customer interactions in internal systems to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Enable faster resolution of complex issues and contribute to operational excellence across the enterprise support organization, applying knowledge of Dells support ecosystem, tools, and escalation protocols.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any), Computer Science or related field plus three (3) years of experience in technical support engineering, enterprise field technical service analysis, server technician or related occupation OR Associate degree in Engineering (any), Computer Science or related field plus four (4) years of experience in technical support engineering, enterprise field technical service analysis, server technician or related occupation.
Requires experience with:
applying networking principles; using standard operating and diagnostic protocols including Command Line to resolve complex system level issues; performing complex troubleshooting of Cloud technologies, including VMware; and hardware troubleshooting
