Job Description

The Operational Support Specialist provides technical and administrative support for the department's work order management system and related software applications. This role ensures accurate data management, assists with troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and serves as a primary point of contact for system-related inquiries. The position also supports office operations, reporting, and employee training. Administer, audit, and maintain the work order management system. Generate and export reports using Crystal Reports and other tools. Troubleshoot hardware/software issues for specialized equipment (e.g., camera trucks). Serve as the point of contact for IT-related questions and third-party software issues (Cityworks,Wincan). Train employeesonwork order management systems and CCTV software. Assist supervisors and staff with system-related questions and operational concerns. Collect, compile, and submit data for management and external agencies. Perform general office duties, including answering phones, processing invoices, and closing work orders. Support special projects andtasksassigned. Provide initial troubleshooting for computers and devices beforeescalatingto IT. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
: Proficiency in work order management systems and reporting tools (Crystal Reports). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and training skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Must possess strong customer service skills and effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods. Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment (up to 25lbs). High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certification preferred. 2+ years in operational support, systems administration, or technical coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) required. Must possess a valid Texas Class "C" driver's license, with a clear driving record. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree. The City of Tyler supports a policy of a drug andalcohol freeworkplace. All candidates are subject to pre-employment testing, which may include, but is not limited to, Drug and Alcohol Screenings, Work Fitness Evaluation, Criminal Background Check, and Consumer Report/Credit Check. No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any regular full-time position. Personsunder eighteen (18) years of age may be employed in temporary or regular part-time positions, if they furnish the City with a minor's release (Form 2-2) and are approved by the City Manager. No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any position requiring the operation of aCitymotorized vehicle.
