COMPENSATION

BENEFITSExpected Salary Range:
$80,000 $90,000 (Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
& SCHEDULEThis role is based on campus and works primarily in a professional office and technical environment. Typical hours align with standard business operations, with flexibility as needed to support critical systems, projects, or universitywide events. Occasional afterhours or oncall support may be required.

ROLEThe IT Services Engineer plays a key role in designing, maintaining, and improving the core technology systems that support the universitys academic, research, and administrative mission. This position combines handson technical expertise with service leadership, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and responsive to the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

WHAT YOU WILL
DOThese responsibilities represent the essential functions of the role.

Design, administer, and continuously improve enterprise IT systems across identity, networking, devices, servers, and cloud servicesManage account lifecycle processes, including onboarding, role changes, and offboardingMaintain campus infrastructure including servers, backups, networks, and core platformsLead systems provisioning, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting to optimize performance and reliabilityServe as an escalation point for complex or highimpact technical issuesDesign, configure, and evolve IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools to improve service quality and efficiencyDevelop and maintain clear technical and enduser documentation and knowledgebase resourcesCollaborate with crossfunctional partners to implement technology solutions that align with institutional goalsMentor and support technicianlevel staff through guidance, knowledge sharing, and best practicesSupport technology needs for university events, ceremonies, and special initiativesParticipate in project planning, implementation, and continuous improvement initiativesHelp ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and institutional policies
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING
FORBachelors degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field or equivalent professional experience5 or more years of experience in systems administration, IT services, or enterprise technical supportDemonstrated experience administering enterprise systems and infrastructureWorking knowledge of identity and access management, directory services, and SSO (e.g., Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace)Experience collaborating effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to analyze complex problems and design practical, secure solutionsCommitment to customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in higher education or similarly complex environmentsAtlassian Jira Administrator and/or Jira Service Management certificationExperience with MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf)Familiarity with networking, information security frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., FERPA, NIST)Handson scripting or commandline troubleshooting experience (Windows, macOS, networking systems)Experience contributing to ITSM maturity and service designRelevant technical certifications or ongoing professional development
