Duties The work involves a wide range of IT management activities that apply to DISA J6 Global Service Desk and various divisions and branches supporting DISA customers in Hampton Roads. This includes IT strategic planning and resource management. Provides assistance in maintaining the division's multi-year project plans and providing basic policy guidance to staff and customers. Assists in the preparation of IT budget requirements and help manage IT resources and projects, applying knowledge of information technology to support daily operations. Performs urgent and nonrecurring special projects for the branch and division chief to solve operational problems and address reports, surveys, and inspection findings. Provides direct assistance and problem resolution for end-users on a variety of IT systems and applications; resolves complex and non-routine technical problems involving hardware, software, network connectivity, and peripheral devices. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months. Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.Basic Requirements:
Applicants must possess either education, as described below, or have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis. Your resume and work experience should clearly support your ability to meet these competencies and will be evaluated as part of the entire application process. GG-9 : A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. My work or the data that I produce is typically reviewed by my supervisor or another colleague. Customer Service

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify based on your experience at the GG-09, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience for the GG-09 is defined as : Experience providing IT support in a help desk environment, such as independently diagnosing and resolving complex, non-routine technical issues across IT systems, applications, hardware, software, and network devices OR experience supporting IT operations under supervision, assisting with project planning, providing basic policy guidance, preparing IT budget requirements, managing IT resources, and supporting special projects to resolve operational issues and inspection findings.Volunteer Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.
