SCOPE OF WORK
This position is responsible for providing a central location for the inventory, management, distribution and maintenance of electronic equipment at the college including laptops, projectors and digital media equipment. They will serve as a central point of help and support for digital media applications, classroom technology and student computing needs, in addition to providing access to digital media software and equipment to facilitate the production of digital video, audio and graphics production. They will also provide support, consultation and educational activities that promote the integration of digital media and technology into the curriculum. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Media - digital video, audio and graphics production: 1. Diagnoses and resolves media system problems. 2. Designs layouts of audio and video equipment and performs upgrades. 3. Determines formats, approaches, content, levels, and mediums to effectively meet objectives within budgetary constraints, utilizing research, knowledge, and training. Utilize Adobe products for use in digital editing. 4. Produces rough and finished graphics and graphic designs. 5. Develop training materials such as production of training films for IT use, exercises and visual displays. Develop manuals, texts, workbooks, or related materials for use in conjunction with production materials or for training purposes. 6. Trains users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom or recommends outside contractors to provide training. 7. Provides instruction to faculty, staff and students on selection, use, and design of audiovisual materials and on operation of presentation equipment; sets up audiovisual equipment according to needs of requesting person(s), determining needs according to size of facility and audience. 8. Performs preventative maintenance and routine cleaning on audiovisual equipment; makes minor repairs on equipment as needed. 9. Maintains inventories of audio and video tapes and related supplies. Help Desk Support:
1. Writes software and hardware evaluations and recommendations for management review. 2. Writes, develops or revises user training manuals and procedures. 3. Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies. 4. Interviews users to collect information about problems and leads users through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error. 5. Determines if problem is caused by hardware such as network, printer, cables, or telephone. 6. Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems referring complex problems to supervisor or technical staff. 7. Consults with Network Operations Services to explain software errors or to recommend changes to programs. Performs computer interfacing and audio and video system interface. 8. Calls software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products. 9. Tests software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work. 10. Schedules and arranges for use of audiovisual equipment for faculty, staff and students upon request; maintains reservation schedule including type of equipment, time needed and time scheduled to return. 11. Checks outgoing and incoming equipment for damage or malfunctions. Notifies supervisor when major equipment repairs are needed. Inventory and Records Maintenance:
1. Logs and tracks calls using problem management database and maintains history records and related problem documentation. 2. Logs and tracks inventory from date of purchase to date of disposal using management database and maintains supply inventory including equipment parts and various other supplies and orders according to established department procedures. Maintains history records and related documentation. 3. Prepares standard statistical reports, such as help desk incident reports. 4. Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and makes recommendations to reduce help line incident rate. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
to perform this position successfully: Required education and/or experience: Bachelor's degree from four year college or university AND two years related experience and/or technical training in the operation and maintenance of a variety of audiovisual equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired, are required. The ability to perform duties in both the personal computer and Macintosh product environments is preferred. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with Native Americans in a college setting or in the community. Experience with and sensitivity to Native American people and cultural customs. APPLICATION PROCESS
