About WSDOT The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is a multimodal agency with a global reputation for excellence. The Opportunity WSDOT is currently seeking several motivated and customer-focused IT Support Technician 1 Interns to support the Technology Services Division (TSD) while gaining hands-on experience in a professional IT environment. The Olympic Southwest (OSW) positions support regional Help Desk, Service Desk, and Workstation Support teams by serving as a first point of contact for customers and performing routine technical support tasks under close supervision in support of agency operations. The Headquarters (HQ) positions support TSD regional teams and agency customers across various WSDOT business units while providing enriching experiences through meaningful project work, field visits, and collaboration with IT professionals throughout the agency. Both positions provide valuable exposure to WSDOT technologies, practices, customer service expectations, and organizational culture. Strong candidates will possess effective communication and customer service skills, basic technical troubleshooting abilities, willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. What to Expect Among the varied range of responsibilities held within these roles, the IT Support Technicians may : Assist in maintaining and resolving hardware and software problems by replacing components using specialized technical tools, and tests equipment to diagnose and resolve faults. Assist in maintaining incidents and requests status through
WSDOT IT
Service Management (ITSM) system. Install and reload software or reconfigure systems as required either via phone, physical visit, or remote access collaboration methods with customer. Assist with imaging desktop and laptop workstations using established WSDOT procedures and documented instructions. Perform basic digital sanitation of workstation storage devices using approved tools and checklists, under guidance. Assist with generating and filing certificates of sanitization following established processes. Travel with or at the direction of assigned staff to WSDOT support locations and assist with documenting IT-relevant spaces using approved tools. Assist with identifying and documenting visible IT and network asset information, including asset tags, equipment types, locations, and general condition. Qualifications To be considered for these opportunities, the following competencies are required :

Currently enrolled in a full-time, or recent graduate of, a post-secondary IT-related academic degree program.

Exhibits enthusiasm for learning WSDOT specific IT concepts and skills and serving agency customers.

Integrity and Ethical Conduct:

Takes action to meet the needs of others. In addition to the required competencies above, the following are also required : At least 18 years old on or before June 1, 2026. Ability to maneuver and transport various materials and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. It is preferred that qualified candidates also demonstrate:
Information Security Awareness:
Familiarity with information security standards, practices, and the importance of protecting organizational data and systems.
Project Coordination and Support:
Familiarity with project management concepts, including planning, organization, prioritization, and supporting project activities or deliverables.
Process Improvement and Organization:

This recruitment will be used to fill up to four (4) positions in (3) Lacey, and (1) Vancouver and may be used fill additional positions per business needs. These positions are not eligible for remote work. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
