Job Description
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Application Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical experience maintaining, administering and managing the County's business applications to ensure the efficient operation and use of all applications and programs. This position provides data integrates, report writing and some website design.
Essential Functions:
1. Work with end users to design, develop and implement new IT systems, to improve business processes and to have the ability to access desired information from existing databases. 2. Consults/advise with contractors/consultants and end users about proper methods, techniques to use and guidelines to follow for solutions and to avoid future problems with data. 3. Works with packaged systems or custom programs to meet the needs of end users. 4. Assist/train end users with a variety of software programs/tools to create, manipulate and produce documents/reports. 5. Train users on multi-user client server applications as well as basic software/hardware training. 6. Documentation of applications, training manuals and office processes. 7. Work effectively on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and adjust to changing priorities and frequent interruptions. 8. Troubleshooting/diagnosis of software related problems, applying appropriate repairs. 9. Advanced knowledge is required to complete complex projects that sometimes require computer programming. 10. Ensuring the most current map data and software is available for County departments to implement; ensuring interagency continuity. 11. Perform analysis and quality assurance on new and existing data to ensure that it meets standards and integrity exists. 12. Implement and make recommendations for storage, usage, and server access and database management. 13. Participate in identifying compatibility issues and efficiency of applications. 14. Participate in researching available tools, technologies, and software products to determine alternative technology solutions to meet end user expectations. 15. Evaluate purchasing needs and advise management. Advises staff and management on upgrade recommendations, installations and troubleshooting. 16. Ensure that software licensing requirements are met and are current. 17. Performs other duties as assigned or required Education and Experience 1. Minimum four years of experience providing systems and network information technology support. 2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3. Must be at least 18 years of age. Licenses and Certifications 1. Valid, unencumbered Wyoming Drivers' License 2. Microsoft, Network certifications highly preferred 3. Comp TIA A+ or other like certifications desirable Knowledge and Skills 1. Working knowledge in the following technology areas: Microsoft server and desktop operation systems, Active Directory, Group Policies, File Sharing, Antivirus and Endpoint Protection software, Backup software and procedures and software updates and patch management. 2. Working knowledge in the following technology areas: Networking concepts; TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, switches and routers. 3. Working knowledge of LAN and wireless networks 4. Principles of cybersecurity 5. Principles of systems backup and recovery 6. Principles and awareness of security protection systems 7. Principles of Voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems 8. Installing, configuring, and maintaining various types of computer equipment and software 9. Diagnosing and resolving computer hardware and software issues. 10. Assisting with the add, remove and changes related to VoIP phones. 11. Essential system administration functions for application software. 12. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others. 13. Professional written and verbal communications skills 14. Practical experience in cybersecurity principles 15. Experience in systems backup and recovery 16. Experience and awareness of security protection systems 17. Principles of Voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems.
