Description Benefits Description Position Summary The IT Technical Services Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting users and maintaining systems for assigned service areas as well as assisting with maintenance of some collegewide systems. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide user support and technical support for an assigned area, including installation and maintenance of systems, understanding of area specific software and hardware needs, troubleshooting, etc. Maintain and document software and hardware configurations and ensure conformity with CWC IT standards. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the college on-campus multi-media classrooms including maintenance of complete, up-to-date inventories, schematics and diagrams of systems and updates. Perform network and server installation and maintenance as required. Participates in team support to other areas of campus and institutional off-hours support as necessary. Coordinate voluntary leave with other IT staff to provide continuous technical support Operate within the framework established by CWC's policies, procedures, and practices. Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned. Typical Qualifications Position Specifications and Minimum Qualifications Education Associate's degree in Computer Science, MIS or directly related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Experience Two years of directly related experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Licenses/Certifications Current CompTIA A+ certification. Equivalency Statement Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Must possess a valid Wyoming State Driver's License. Desired Qualifications Other technical certifications, for example: Google IT Support Professional, Network+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+), CompTIA Security+, CCNA/CCNP, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong working knowledge of modern business and consumer computer hardware and software. Strong troubleshooting and repair skills. Ability to install, configure and support Windows operating systems and application software. Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems. Knowledge of computer networks and networking. Ability to work independently while supporting a team effort Knowledge of CWC policies, procedures and practices. Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects concurrently through to completion with an attention to detail, and to meet deadlines. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, helpful manner in person and over the phone. Possesses strong, effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and collaborative management. Level of Supervision This position operates with significant autonomy under the direct supervision of the Sr. Technician IT Technical Support Working Environment Reasonable accommodation will be extended to otherwise qualified individuals with a legally recognized disability. Equipment Used Standard office equipment, desktop and mobile computer hardware, hand tools, power tools (i.e. electrical hand drill), ladder, and general equipment utilized for the support and maintenance of standard desktop and mobile computer workstations. Physical Requirements Work requires lifting of objects weighing up to 75 pounds (assisted), reaching, lowering, carrying and twisting of heavy loads and use of protective devices. Regular talking, hearing and seeing required in the normal course of performing the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform some essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and creative problem solving. Environmental Conditions Work is performed in an office setting under limited supervision and includes field work on computer information systems, classroom technology, computer labs and staff offices.
