Digital I&C Upgrade / Modernization Program Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Digital Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support a large-scale digital modernization initiative at a nuclear power plant. This role will focus on the design, modification, and implementation of digital control systems, replacing legacy analog systems with modern Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms. The engineer will play a key role in supporting both safety-related and non-safety-related system upgrades, working closely with engineering, operations, and vendors to ensure successful project execution in a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Perform digital modification engineering for nuclear plant control system upgrades. Support full lifecycle activities including design, procurement, implementation, testing, and commissioning. Develop and review key engineering deliverables such as: Design and procurement specifications Engineering change packages System requirements and functional design documents Review and validate OEM/vendor design documents, test plans, and implementation packages. Provide technical support during outages, including system installation, troubleshooting, and post-modification testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendors. Identify and resolve design issues, providing technical recommendations and solutions. Ensure all work complies with plant procedures, NRC regulations, and industry standards. Systems & Technologies (Examples) Non-Safety Systems (Modernization Programs):

Reactor Protection Systems (RPS) Engineered Safety Features Actuation Systems (ESFAS) Nuclear Instrumentation Systems Safety Display and Monitoring Systems Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline). 10+ years of I&C design engineering experience. 5+ years of experience with DCS hardware/software modifications in industrial or power generation environments. Proven ability to develop and review: Engineering change packages Design and procurement specifications Test plans and technical documentation Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-performance environment. Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with digital upgrades in nuclear power plants. Familiarity with Westinghouse Ovation DCS implementations. Knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements and guidelines, including: Digital upgrade standards (e.g., NISP guidance) 10 CFR 73.54 Cyber Security Rule Experience developing and executing post-modification test plans (PMT). Prior qualification as a modification/design engineer at a nuclear facility.
