Job Description:
Embedded Firmware Engineer On-site - Huntington Beach, CA About West Coast Solutions West Coast Solutions develops advanced electronic systems for aerospace, power, and cryogenic applications. As a growing team of experienced aerospace professionals, we combine technical excellence with the agility and ownership opportunities that come from working in a small, high-impact organization. We are seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop low-level firmware for advanced aerospace electronics, power systems, and cryogenic applications. Working closely with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers, you will design, implement, test, and optimize embedded software that directly interfaces with custom hardware, sensors, control systems, and power electronics. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to hardware, solving challenging technical problems, and contributing throughout the product development lifecycle. What You'll Do Develop bare-metal firmware for microcontroller-based embedded systems Design and implement firmware supporting communications, telemetry acquisition, motor control, and system monitoring functions Develop embedded control algorithms, including PID control loops and signal processing functions Support hardware bring-up, integration, debugging, and troubleshooting activities Optimize software for performance, reliability, and resource-constrained environments Participate in design reviews, root-cause investigations, and technical discussions Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout product development Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline 2-7 years of professional embedded firmware development experience Strong proficiency in C programming Experience developing bare-metal firmware for microcontroller-based systems Experience implementing communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, or similar protocols Experience developing control loops, embedded algorithms, or signal processing functions Experience debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with aerospace, defense, spaceflight, or other high-reliability systems Experience developing firmware for power electronics, motor control, or power conversion systems Experience with FPGA-based or microcontroller-based control systems Experience with cryogenic electronics, cryocooler control systems, or related technologies Experience with DSP algorithms, vibration control, or advanced control systems Experience with Linux-based embedded systems
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
$95,000 - $156,000 , depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capability.
Performance Bonus:
Eligible employees participate in an annual bonus program based on individual contribution and company performance.
