Full-time, Exempt Position Summary The System Integration Engineer - Train Set is responsible for the end-to-end integration of onboard train systems, ensuring that electrical, mechanical, software, and safety subsystems function as a unified system. This role serves as a key technical interface across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and customers, supporting the full product lifecycle from design through testing, validation, and commissioning. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical interface for system integration activities across internal teams, suppliers, and customers. Ensure compatibility and alignment of all onboard subsystems, including propulsion, braking, doors, HVAC, communications, and signaling systems. Develop and maintain system integration plans, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Verification & Validation (V&V) strategies. Manage requirements flow-down, traceability, and verification using systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion). Plan and support system integration testing, simulations, and on-site commissioning activities. Troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions across cross-functional teams. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and customer standards (e.g., EN 50126/50128/50129, TSI, IEC, IEEE). Support configuration management, change control, and impact assessments throughout the project lifecycle. Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and customer presentations. Provide regular status updates and integration progress reports to project leadership. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required. Experience 5+ years of experience in systems or integration engineering within rail, aerospace, automotive, or other complex systems industries. Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-disciplinary system integration efforts. Experience with full lifecycle engineering (design through commissioning) preferred. Technical Skills Strong understanding of systems engineering principles (V-model, system architecture, requirements management, and validation). Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Polarion). Knowledge of integrating hardware and software systems in a safety-critical environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis. Professional Skills Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multicultural team setting. Preferred Qualifications Experience with train control and communication systems (e.g., TCMS, ERTMS, Ethernet Train Backbone). Knowledge of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) principles. Familiarity with software development lifecycle and standards (IEEE, EN). Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies. Prior experience in rail vehicle integration or rolling stock projects. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
