Why This Role Exists This role fulfills an essential purpose in facilitating several company-wide analytics, telemetry, activation, and customer engagement programs. The ideal candidate will contribute technical insight, engineering knowledge, and partner with various departments to increase PlayStation's data and activation potential in marketing, commerce, and product experiences. About the Team EPE's mission is to develop scalable data, activation, and experimentation capabilities that support analytics, personalization, and customer engagement across PlayStation. We compose platform-neutral telemetry, data transformation, and activation systems powering Marketing, Commerce, Player & Network, and Game Publisher experiences. We partner with engineering, product, analytics, and marketing teams to develop dependable, reusable, and scalable data foundations that improve customer experiences and business outcomes! Day-to-Day Responsibilities In this position, you will develop and assemble scalable data and activation systems to support analytics, experimentation, personalization, and customer engagement across PlayStation platforms. You will join forces with engineering, product, analytics, and marketing colleagues to build telemetry frameworks, transformation pipelines, and integration services! These solutions secure reliable data collection, modeling, and activation across diverse internal and external platforms. The position covers data engineering, platform integration, and activation infrastructure, demanding solid software engineering fundamentals and experience handling modern cloud-native data systems. Responsibilities Partner with collaborators to translate business and analytics requirements into scalable telemetry solutions Develop reusable telemetry and event-driven data collection systems spanning web, app, and platform experiences Develop integrations between internal systems and external marketing, analytics, and partner platforms using APIs and cloud-native services Support experimentation, personalization, and audience activation workflows through dependable data infrastructure Construct and enhance scalable data pipelines and transformation frameworks using SQL, Spark, dbt, or related technologies Implement monitoring, observability, and data quality checks throughout pipelines and services Contribute to platform architecture decisions with a focus on modularity, scalability, maintainability, and reuse Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data contracts, schemas, and instrumentation standards Improve developer and analyst workflows through automation and self-service enablement Contribute to engineering standards including testing, CI/CD, documentation, and operational excellence Key Skills & Experience Core Engineering & Data Platform Experience Experience building and sustaining scalable data pipelines and transformation frameworks using SQL, dbt, Spark, or related technologies Strong SQL and data modeling capabilities Experience building cloud-native data solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure Experience in managing workflow orchestration, pipeline automation, and distributed data processing systems Knowledge of software engineering principles such as CI/CD, version control, testing, and observability Telemetry, Data Collection & Integration Experience crafting telemetry and event collection systems across web, app, or platform environments Experience with end-to-end data collection processes including requirements gathering, instrumentation build, validation, and downstream consumption Experience in building integration services and handling APIs, partner feeds, and distributed systems Experience in employing monitoring, observability, and data quality validation techniques Solid grasp of web technologies, APIs, and concepts related to distributed systems Marketing, Activation & Experimentation Ecosystems Experience with tracking and telemetry platforms like Customer Journey Analytics, Snowplow, Segment, Google Analytics, or comparable tools Experience working with enterprise marketing, analytics, CDPs, or customer engagement platforms like Adobe Experience Platform, Salesforce Data Cloud, Braze, Segment, or comparable ecosystems Experience assisting experimentation, personalization, or audience activation workflows through scalable data infrastructure Familiarity with customer data platforms, experimentation frameworks, and modern marketing technology ecosystems Programming & Collaboration Experience developing technical solutions using JavaScript, Python, or similar languages Experience collaborating across engineering, analytics, marketing, product, and business teams Ability to drive technical solutions from architecture through implementation with strong ownership and communication skills Experience working within large-scale software engineering organizations using Agile or related methodologies SaaS or enterprise software implementation experience Ability to educate non-technical users about data and telemetry concepts Japanese language proficiency is a plus but not required Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate demonstrates skill in engaging with diverse teams and turning business needs into scalable technical solutions. They maintain strong engineering principles, consider the overall system, and have experience crafting reusable data and activation components that develop with advancing technologies and shifting business priorities. Successful candidates are equally comfortable discussing architecture, telemetry development, data modeling, integrations, and operational reliability with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
