Job Description
Description Application deadline: May 12, 2026 The Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC), AWS for Government, Storage Services team is hiring a cleared Systems Development Engineer to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems. In this role, you will join a team of highly talented engineers building and operating Amazon Simple Queue and Notification Services, Kinesis Data Streams (KDS), and AWS Managed Flink and Kafka, services instrumental to some of our customers' most sensitive workflows. This is a great opportunity to have direct impact to some of the largest-scaled systems in the world and work with some of the smartest people in the industry, while having a huge impact. A successful Systems Development Engineer should be focused on troubleshooting complex system operations, not just on a server level but enterprise wide. Additionally, you will take part and be responsible for developing and building exciting new features for these services

- Region and feature builds
- Manage and monitoring systems health and status
- Provisioning devices, assisting with data ingestion, and device cleaning
- Troubleshooting device, network, and/or configuration related issues
- Identifying, documenting, and communicating engineering and operations recommendations to team members
- Writing and disseminating after action reports capturing key events, actions taken, and future mitigation plans
- Providing on-call support when necessary About the team Why AWS Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform.
- Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
