The Enterprise Architecture SME works closely with government architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure architecture products are accurate, well-governed, reusable, and aligned with SSA's architectural direction, modernization priorities, and document management practices. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and publish the Agency Target Enterprise Architecture in alignment with SSA priorities and enterprise standards.
  • Create and maintain current-state, transition-state, and target-state enterprise architecture artifacts at both enterprise and business domain levels.
  • Develop enterprise architecture models, diagrams, reports, and supporting documentation to communicate architecture direction and future-state design.

  • Establish and maintain disciplined document management practices for architecture artifacts, including version control, quality review, traceability, publishing, archival, and update coordination.
  • Organize, maintain, and publish architecture documents in approved repositories and collaboration platforms, including SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Create and maintain architecture reports, executive briefings, presentations, and technical documents to support leadership decision-making and program governance.
  • Gather and analyze information from stakeholders, systems, and existing documentation to support architecture development tasks.
  • Assess and document whether applications comply with the agency's architectural direction and provide recommendations for remediation where appropriate.
  • Assess and document the level of effort required to bring non-compliant applications into alignment with approved architecture direction.
  • Support development and maintenance of reference architectures, architecture standards, and standardized guidance aligned with modern and cloud-native practices.
  • Support software and technology governance activities through analysis, planning, documentation, and implementation support.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing support related to enterprise architecture development, artifact management, and documentation practices.
  • Prepare weekly status inputs and contribute to work plans, action tracking, and formal deliverables as required by the work activity.
  • Ensure all architecture products are well-structured, controlled, accessible, and maintained in accordance with SSA standards and document management expectations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, business architecture, technical architecture documentation, or related discipline; master's degree may substitute for part of the experience.

  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience preparing executive-level presentations, reports, and briefings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work across technical and business teams.
