Job Description

Overview We are seeking a MOSA Architect & Systems Integration Lead for a critical Army portfolio. This role is not just about compliance; it is about engineering lethality and flexibility in the next generation of Army systems. You will leverage Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital thread integration to define the logical boundaries and interfaces that allow the Army to swap components rapidly without vendor lock-in, helping ensure system architectures are interoperable, interchangeable, and ready for multi-domain operations. About LMI LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed. Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.
Responsibilities Modular Architecture & MBSE:
Translate complex Army requirements into modular solutions using SysML. Develop model libraries and profiles to serve as the Authoritative Source of Truth for system-of-systems.
Interface Control & Interoperability:
Identify logical boundaries and system interfaces to enable seamless component interchangeability.
Standards Implementation & Policy:
Apply open standards (e.g., SOSA, DoDAF, and UAF) to practical hardware/software builds. Draft and refine DoD systems engineering guidance and technical criteria for MOSA implementation across Programs of Record.
Digital Engineering Lifecycle:
Design and manage digital threads, integrating MBSE with Product Lifecycle Management and DevSecOps stacks.
Business Analysis:
Conduct trade-off studies and "what-if" assessments to balance modularity benefits against rapid deployment needs; defend MOSA business cases for milestone decisions.
Validation and Verification :
Support the development of technical assessment frameworks and performance metrics to evaluate MOSA compliance throughout the systems engineering V-model.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Facilitate or engage in technical exchange meetings, potentially with various PAEs to drive digital convergence. Qualifications Required Qualifications BS/MS in Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent technical industry experience). 10+ years in Systems Engineering or Data Architecture with a focus on Architecture Patterns (Microservices, SOA, REST). Ability to lead the development of innovative approaches in modernizing systems engineering practices. Deep familiarity with ISO/IEC 15288 and DoD 5000 series acquisition policies. Proven ability to integrate requirements management with architectural models to ensure end-to-end traceability. Experience advising data rights strategies to ensure long-term competitive sourcing and avoid vendor lock-in. Knowledge of conformance tools and verification suites to ensure modularity throughout the Systems Engineering V-model. Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., No Magic Cameo, IBM Rational Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect). Desirable Qualifications Experience authoring or contributing to capability briefs or white papers on Digital Continuity and Mission Engineering. Experience with relevant hardware design and implementation (e.g., FPGA design, VHDL) and system simulation tools (e.g., Ansys ModelCenter, STK, or MATLAB/Simulink) to support Digital Engineering and MOSA compliance. Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with SOSA, CMOSS or FACE frameworks within a DoD environment program. INCOSE CSEP/ESEP or DAWIA Level III Certification in Systems Engineering. Experience working within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to manage product backlogs for complex system designs. Active Secret. Location Hybrid - Primarily remote with occasional travel or onsite visits to a secure site. Ideal candidates live in San Antonio or the Baltimore MD area. Clearance Ability to obtain DoD Secret.
Target salary range:
$123,000 - $211,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications. The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
