Job Description

Workstation and System Engineering Lead- Cleared The Workstation and Systems Engineering Lead is a designated Key Personnel role responsible for leading the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of customer workstation and server operating system images across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments. This role provides technical leadership and Tier 3 escalation support for workstation and server image, patching, and update-related issues, ensuring systems remain secure, stable, compliant, and aligned with federal standards.

The Workstation and Systems Engineering Lead works closely with stakeholders, security teams, asset management, EUC providers, release and deployment teams, and other GLINDA support areas to deliver consistent, predictable, and high-quality end-user and server computing servicesCandidate is proposed as Key Personnel. Employment is contingent upon award of the contract.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead workstation and server operating system image development and management, including base (gold) images and specialized images (e.g., loaner, assignee, standalone, and office-specific images).
  • Ensure images support physical, virtual, cloud, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
  • Maintain version control, image libraries, and image change logs in accordance with configuration management processes.
  • Work collaboratively with customer leadership, Service Area Managers/Owners, System Owners, security teams, and other vendors to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with enterprise IT operations
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex workstation and server image, patch, and update issues
  • Lead root cause analysis, resolution planning, re-imaging efforts, and development of permanent fixes or approved workarounds
  • Manage and optimize image management and deployment toolsets, including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Intune, and related automation tool.
  • Lead periodic service reviews to identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and federal IT security standards.
Qualifications:
  • Top Secret Clearance or DOE Q clearance
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in workstation engineering or a similar role
  • Experience with workstation and server operating system/image development.
  • Customer service experience to ensure Tier 3 support of workstation and server image/patch/update related issues are resolved appropriately.
  • Working knowledge of image management toolsets, to include but not limited to Microsoft SCCM and Intune
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise environments with thousands of workstations and servers
  • Strong understanding of Windows workstation and server operating systems, with exposure to virtual and cloud-hosted desktops
  • Experience coordinating release, deployment, and patching activities across Development, Pre-Production, and Production environments
  • Familiarity with DevOps / Agile delivery principles and ITIL-aligned service operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and maintain a strong customer-focused delivery approach
