Job Description

Systems Engineer BigBear.ai United States, Maryland, Columbia 6811 Benjamin Franklin Drive (Show on map) May 28, 2026 Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a energetic and organized System Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be actively involved in the entire lifecycle of complex systems, from initial design and integration to deployment and maintenance. You will play a key role in driving our mission forward by ensuring our technical architecture is robust, scalable, and aligned with program goals. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team, interface with stakeholders, and make a significant impact on high-priority projects. Your technical expertise, organizational skills, and collaborative spirit will be critical in solving complex challenges and delivering mission-critical solutions. What you will do
System Design & Integration:
Contribute to the architectural design and integration of complex, enterprise-level systems
Documentation:
Develop and maintain project documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plans
Task Management:
Utilize strong organizational skills to track and manage technical tasks and milestones
Infrastructure Management:
Support the implementation of strategic plans for infrastructure management and automation
Collaboration:
Act as a technical point of contact, collaborating between the engineering team and program management What you need to have
Clearance:
Must possess and maintain an activeTS/SCI w/Polygraph
Education & Experience:
3 years of experiencein a systems engineering role with aB.S.in a technical discipline, or4 additional years of experiencein place of a degree
Technical Expertise:
Knowledge ofsystems engineering principles, standards, and the full development lifecycle Experience withnetwork profiling, fingerprinting, and security principles Demonstrated ability to manage and organize technical tasks and priorities Experience contributing to thedesign or architecture of IT systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working within a collaborative team environment What we'd like you to have
Leadership Skills:
Previous leadership experience
Web Hosting Expertise:
Experience withweb hosting/monitoring
Modern Architectures:
Familiarity withserverless architectures(e.g.,AWS Lambda) and/orcontainerization(e.g.,Docker)
Mobile Technology:
Background or familiarity withmobile technology systems and infrastructure
Agile/DevOps:
Experience working within anAgileorDevOps environment
Certifications:
