Job Description

Overview Are you an innovative leader passionate about pushing boundaries and delivering excellence? The Train Control Systems Manager leads the delivery, integration, and commissioning of train control and signaling systems for the Purple Line project. This role oversees all technical, contractual, and field aspects of train control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations. The position requires close coordination with design teams, contractors, and the client to meet schedule, budget, and performance requirements. What you will be doing Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of train control and signaling systems, including ATP (Automatic Train Protection), interlockings, wayside equipment, and onboard systems Manage system integration across signaling, communications, traction power, and SCADA systems Oversee design reviews, technical submittals, and interface management Coordinate with designers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (FTA, FRA, AREMA, IEEE, etc.) Manage RFIs, change orders, and contract requirements related to train control systems Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities, including factory and field testing Develop and track system delivery schedules and ensure alignment with overall project milestones Lead risk identification and mitigation strategies related to system performance and integration Support safety certification and system acceptance processes Provide leadership and direction to engineers, field staff, and subcontractors What we are looking for Master's Degree in Engineering required. Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering strongly preferred. 15+ year in geotechnical, structural, bridge, roadway, pavement, drainage, or related construction industry experience preferred. 10+ years of experience in rail/transit systems, with a focus on train control and signaling Professional Engineering License (PE/PENG) required. Proven experience managing complex system integration on large infrastructure or transit projects Strong knowledge of signaling systems (CBTC, ATC, interlockings, PTC where applicable) Experience with testing, commissioning, and system validation Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and safety certification processes Strong leadership, coordination, and decision-making skills Preferred Qualifications Experience on design-build or P3 transit projects Knowledge of Purple Line systems or similar light rail systems Experience working with public agencies and oversight bodies Why work for us Some of the benefits you may be eligible for as an employee are: Comprehensive compensation package and paid time off program Industry leading 401(k)/RRSP Medical/Extended Health Care, Dental, Vision and/or Provincial Medical Wellness benefits & Employee Assistance Program Tuition Reimbursement Program We are an EEO/ADA/Veterans employer.
