Senior Interior Systems Engineer Location:
Southfield, MI Pay Rate:
$78.00-$84.00/hour
Duration:
12-Month Contract (Extension Possible) We are seeking a skilled Senior Interior Systems Engineer to support the design and development of advanced automotive interior components. This role is ideal for engineers experienced in build-to-print systems, injection molding, GD&T, and manufacturing-driven design.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development of interior components and systems (IP, door panels, consoles, headliners, trim) Design and release components from concept through production (SOP) Create and manage technical specifications, timelines, and engineering documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and suppliers Ensure designs meet DFM (Design for Manufacturability) standards and cost targets Apply expertise in injection molding, compression forming, lamination, and material selection Support product launches, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 4+ years of experience in automotive interior systems design & development Strong knowledge of hard trim, soft trim, and interior component systems Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6 preferred) Experience with GD&T, DFM, and manufacturing processes Proven ability to deliver high-quality designs in fast-paced environments
