Senior Cloud Engineer (Google Cloud Platform) - Embedded Architecture & Delivery | Minneapolis, MN (Local candidates Only)

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) expertise to work closely with application development teams and drive high-quality cloud architecture and implementation. This role blends hands-on engineering (50%) with architectural leadership , helping teams adopt the right cloud patterns, accelerate delivery, and improve overall engineering maturity. Key Responsibilities Own and guide Google Cloud Platform architecture decisions ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency Embed within application teams to accelerate delivery on critical initiatives Act as a bridge between application development and platform engineering teams Design and implement infrastructure using Terraform, including: Enterprise modules Cloud Foundation Fabric (CFF) modules Custom extensions Contribute directly to development and delivery (~50% hands-on) Troubleshoot complex infrastructure/platform issues and act as Tier 3 escalation Define and enhance CI/CD and DevSecOps practices (GitLab preferred) Guide teams on secure and scalable patterns across IAM, networking, and services Mentor and upskill developers on cloud-native and infrastructure practices Provide pragmatic solutions balancing best practices with delivery speed

Required Skills & Experience Core Experience:

Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform in production environments Proven ability to design and implement cloud architectures Deep expertise in Terraform (enterprise-level usage) Experience working with modular Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks (e.g., CFF or similar) Background collaborating closely with application development teams

Technical Skills:

Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine) Strong understanding of: IAM and security design Networking (VPCs, connectivity, service access) Observability and troubleshooting CI/CD experience (GitLab preferred) Familiarity with Internal Developer Platform (IDP) concepts Preferred Qualifications Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification Experience with Cloud Foundation Fabric (CFF) Exposure to DevSecOps and enterprise security practices Experience building or operating Internal Developer Platforms
