Job Description
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on new product development Design, develop, and maintain digital twins in alignment with the project team Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex architectures with a high level of integrated automation Generate project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.) Lead requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and verification reviews Analyze complex problems, identify their true root causes, and translate them into clear, implementable algorithms or methods that improve system performance. Lead team members through troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actions Design, integrate and test industrial PLCs, control systems, electro-mechanical & robotic systems Work with software developers to generate system logic and controls (SW development experience will be a significant advantage) Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.) Maintain repositories and revision control of system logic, keeping symmetry between simulation and real-world. Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery Perform engineering analysis/calculations where applicable Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP system Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product's lifecycle Review and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies Interpret and translate system requirements into actionable technical direction Mentor less experienced electrical engineers and designers Manage individual tasking while leading other electrical/robotic engineers through project execution with minimal oversight Some travel required (up to 25% during critical on-site activities) Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Computer Engineering or related field from an accredited university 8+ years of experience in electrical, mechanical or systems engineering required Must have integration and testing experience with robotics or automation Must have experience with requirements development and validation Experience in the utilization of vision systems and robotics Proficiency with scripting and programming languages Proficiency in robotic programming languages, coordinates, and software tools Strong understanding of automation systems and PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) with strong preference for Siemens tools (Proneta, and TIA-Portal) and industrial networks (ProfiNet, ProfiSafe) Expertise in Virtual Twin technology and its applications in robotics Proficiency with motor controllers, VFDs, servos, and sensors Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems Understanding of power distribution, circuit breakers, and terminal blocks Understanding of strength of materials, statics, and dynamics Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems Understanding of electrical symbols with experience in circuit analysis Ability to understand, implement, and diagnose information on a mechanical component/assembly drawing Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) Ability to work individually and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basisPreferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in FANUC programming languages and software tools strongly preferred Prior experience with Visual Components Prior experience programming with python and C#Additional Requirements:
25% travel required This role will be based in the Earth City, MO location. This is primarily an in-office/on-machine position that requires regular interaction with the equipment stakeholders. This is NOT a hybrid/remote position, however, occasional hybrid work is acceptable based on project activities.MiTek Perks:
