Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure-focused roles is required. This role requires comfort working alongside AI‑powered tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, validation, and accountability for outcomes. Engineers will contribute to the adoption and continuous improvement of AI‑enabled workflows by providing feedback, identifying opportunities for automation, and safely incorporating AI assistance into repeatable operational patterns. This includes leveraging approved AI tools and agents to assist with platform operations, troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and workflow efficiency under established governance and best practices. Engineers on the INFOPS Application Development team are expected to actively use and support AI‑assisted and agentic engineering workflows as part of their day‑to‑day work. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized platforms; experience with Red Hat OpenShift is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience administering or supporting MongoDB or PostgreSQL platforms deployed on Kubernetes-based environments. Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and system administration concepts. Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, Jenkins, Codefresh, and Git-based workflows. Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling (e.g., Helm, Ansible, Terraform). Experience with monitoring and observability tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot distributed systems issues with guidance. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment. Motivation to continuously learn new technologies and expand technical skill sets.
Location:
St. Louis, MO Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $90,000 to $112,500 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay. The well-being of WWT employees is essential. Why Join the INFOPS Application Development Team? The INFOPS Application Development team operates within WWT's Internal IT Platform Engineering organization and focuses on enabling developers. The team builds and evolves platforms, workflows, and automation that allow application teams to safely and efficiently self‑service infrastructure, deployments, and integrations. Our work emphasizes Platform Engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and automation. As the organization continues to mature, the team is also evolving toward AI‑native engineering, incorporating intelligent automation and AI‑assisted workflows to reduce operational toil, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery across the software development lifecycle. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building leverage—creating systems and patterns that multiply the effectiveness of developers and other engineers—and who want to have a direct, visible impact on how modern engineering practices scale across WWT IT. What will you be doing? As an Engineer within the Internal WWT IT organization, you will be responsible for analyzing, supporting, and maintaining IT platforms and services owned by the INFOPS Application Development team. This role includes contributing to the day-to-day operation of critical platforms, performing maintenance activities, assisting with platform upgrades, and supporting internal application teams. You will work closely with senior engineers and partner teams while developing deeper expertise in modern platform engineering technologies. This role provides hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based platforms and shared data services that support WWT's internal application ecosystem, with continued growth through on-the-job experience, training, and mentorship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the maintenance, operation, and support of Kubernetes-based platforms used by WWT internal application teams, including Red Hat OpenShift environments. Support the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of containerized workloads across development, test, and production environments. Provide hands-on operational support for MongoDB, PostgreSQL platforms deployed on Kubernetes, including monitoring, troubleshooting, backups, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities. Contribute to the build and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows that automate application deployment. Support shared platform services that applications integrate with, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Apache Solr, and related technologies. Assist with system integration efforts to ensure new services and platform changes are compatible with existing environments. Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for platform-related issues following established operational procedures. Create and maintain technical documentation related to platform configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps. Collaborate with senior engineers, application teams, and partner engineering groups to understand requirements and implement platform solutions. Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance windows with guidance from senior team members. Follow agile practices including daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.
