Job Description
Overview Collaborates with team members and leadership to design, maintain, and improve WakeMed's enterprise solutions, including on premises and cloud-hosted systems. Technologies supported by this role may include directory services, enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms, automation, single-sign-on, application delivery and remote access, and the Epic backend (client systems). Current supported technologies include Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), Epic, Microsoft Active Directory and ADFS, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop, Imprivata SSO, PowerShell. The Senior Systems Engineer is a technical expert in several areas of responsibility and a strong team player. The role works with little supervision. Job duties and requirements including acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for several areas by proactively managing a technology to meet WakeMed's requirements and providing guidance and mentorship to peers. Architect complex systems, ensuring they integrate well into our existing IT landscape, propose, design, implement, maintain, update, support, troubleshoot, and document solutions and technologies, provide technical coaching and mentoring to other team members, and occasionally prepare and conduct internal training sessions, proactively improve processes and reduce manual effort via optimization, automation, and scripting, with a focus on authoring and maintaining complex scripts, forecast future system needs, optimizing system performance to maintain efficiency and scalability, make sure technologies are setup and operated reliably, efficiently, and securely, stay up to date with current and emerging technologies, and proactively propose or implement new ways to improve our service and environment, provide 2nd and 3rd tier support and participate in an on-call rotation, take a lead role to work with staff members, vendors, and others to resolve issues and assist system setups and implementations, manage and lead internal projects, provide input to roadmaps and budget planning. Requires expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience in several of the technologies listed above. Proven hands-on experience architecting, designing, and operations systems and infrastructures required. Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) required.
