Job Description:
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and supporting IT infrastructure services and solutions, with a strong focus on Operational Technology (OT) environments such as shopfloor systems, building management, and laboratory systems. This role collaborates with service providers, ensures compliance with standards, architecture, and security requirements, and provides global support across Lonza sites as part of the Global Infrastructure team.
Responsibilities:
Plan and design infrastructure services and solutions in line with business, quality, and security requirements. Collaborate with service providers to define and manage KPIs, SLAs, and reporting for service quality. Ensure adherence to IT best practices, documentation standards, IT security, and change management processes. Contribute to architecture blueprints, technical designs, and process documentation. Provide hands-on support across multiple infrastructure domains, including networking, servers, virtualization, automation, storage, backup, and disaster recovery. Perform root cause analyses and define corrective measures for cross-technical issues. Support global sites with infrastructure needs, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance.
Requirements:
University degree or equivalent experience. Fluent in English with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proven experience in IT infrastructure engineering, ideally in OT environments. Hands-on expertise in multiple technologies, including: Cisco switches and wireless controllers. Hypervisors (vSphere, AHV). Windows Server (senior level) and Linux (senior level preferred). Active Directory, Citrix, and Remote Desktop Services. Kubernetes, Docker, or Podman. Backup technologies (Veeam, Acronis) and disaster recovery. PowerShell/Bash scripting and automation. Storage, file services, and database systems. Strong customer service mindset and problem-solving abilities. Experience with ITIL model and metrics for service delivery. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver quick, effective solutions.
