Job Description

Job Summary:
The Epic Technical Architect is the primary technical and workflow strategist for WMCHealth's integrated health system. This role is responsible for the design, stability, and long-term scalability of the Epic environment, encompassing both clinical systems and the Revenue Cycle. You will provide expert-level leadership for enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring that the system is engineered to support the WMCHealth Network's clinical needs while maintaining peak financial throughput for hospital and professional billing.
Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy System Roadmap:
Define and maintain the architectural blueprint for the Epic platform, including ODBA (Database), Hyperspace, Web Blob, and Interconnect server tiers.
Performance Engineering:
Lead the proactive monitoring and tuning of the environment to prevent system latency and ensure 24/7/365 operational reliability.
Strategic Planning:
Partner with IT and clinical/financial leadership to evaluate and recommend architectural approaches for major version upgrades, quarterly SUs, and new facility go-lives.
Revenue Cycle & Financial Architecture Revenue Integrity:
Architect the technical pathways for Resolute (HB/PB), ensuring that claims processing, remittance, and nightly batch cycles are optimized for zero downtime.
Integration & EDI:
Oversee the technical architecture for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Bridges interfaces, managing the secure flow of data between Epic and external clearinghouses.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure the technical environment maintains strict PCI-DSS compliance for payment processing and meets all
HIPAA/HITECH
data-in-transit standards.
Integration & Interoperability Interconnected Systems:
Design and manage complex integrations between Epic and third-party systems (PACS, Lab, Pharmacy, and specialized financial bolt-ons).
Identity & Access:
Oversee the technical framework for Care Everywhere and provider directory (SER) integrations to facilitate seamless data exchange across the network.
Governance & Mentorship Architectural Guardrails:
Establish best practices for Epic build and configuration, serving as the final point of escalation for the most complex technical hurdles.
Team Leadership:
Provide mentorship to senior analysts and technical directors, fostering a culture of innovation and high-quality solution design.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare IT, with at least 2 years in an architect or technical role specifically within an Epic environment, required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, required Master's degree, preferred Licenses /
Certifications:
ECSA (Epic Client Systems Administrator) and/or Epic ODBA (Caché/IRIS) certifications, required Proficiency Epic Bridges or Revenue Cycle (Resolute HB/PB), strongly preferred.
Special Requirements:
Technical Mastery:
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, and enterprise storage solutions.
Analytical Skill:
Proven ability to translate complex clinical and financial operational needs into scalable, stable technical builds.
