Commitment:
4 hours/week maximum
Pay:
$25 - $30 / hour ($100 - $120 / week total)
Location:
Remote (Day-to-day) / Interview takes place at our Corporate Office About Us We are a fast-paced tech startup moving quickly past our initial MVP stage. We have outgrown purely managed SaaS constraints and are optimizing our infrastructure for scalability, cost-efficiency, and absolute reliability. We rely heavily on self-hosted architecture via Coolify paired with optimized frontend distribution platforms. The Challenge We need an experienced infrastructure engineer for a highly focused, 4-hour-per-week contract. You will audit our current setup, secure our application delivery, build concrete CI/CD pipelines, and establish a foundational production architecture that can scale seamlessly. This will transition into a full-time role after we officially launch and find the right person for our company.
What You'll Do Infrastructure Architecture:
Own, architect, and optimize our production environment hosted on Coolify (VPS/Docker-managed), ensuring maximum uptime and performance for our FastAPI backend.
Staging & Preview Pipelines:
Manage and fine-tune our staging environments deployed on Vercel for our Next.js frontend and temporary backend previews.
CI/CD Automation:
Build automated, repeatable Git-driven deployment pipelines that safely transition code from local development -> Vercel staging -> Coolify production.
Implement lightweight, effective monitoring, alerting, and logging so we know about issues before our users do.
Our Tech Stack Frontend:
Next.js (Tailwind CSS, ShadCN)
Backend:
FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic Hosting:
Coolify (Production), Vercel (Staging/Previews)
Database:
Supabase (PostgreSQL) Requirements Proven experience setting up and maintaining self-hosted PaaS solutions (specifically Coolify or robust Docker/Docker-Compose environments). Deep familiarity with Vercel configurations, serverless execution limits, and Next.js optimization. Strong Python ecosystem experience (managing migrations with Alembic and configuring production-grade
WSGI/ASGI
servers). Hands-on experience managing and scaling PostgreSQL instances (Supabase/Postgres connection pooling, indexing). Prior startup experience—you know how to build clean, pragmatic infrastructure without over-engineering inside a strict weekly hour limit. Must be available to complete the interview process in person at our corporate office.
