Director of Cloud Engineering

NextStep Recruiting is partnering with an innovative healthcare technology organization seeking a Director of Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps to lead cloud strategy, infrastructure modernization, and DevOps transformation initiatives. This leadership role will be responsible for driving scalable cloud architecture, operational excellence, automation, and platform reliability while building and mentoring a high-performing technical team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, infrastructure automation, DevOps practices, and technical leadership within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. What You'll Do Develop and execute cloud infrastructure and platform strategies that support long-term business objectives Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud environments Champion DevOps best practices, automation initiatives, and continuous delivery capabilities across engineering teams Establish governance, security, compliance, and operational standards for cloud infrastructure Oversee infrastructure reliability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response processes Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and modern deployment methodologies Build, mentor, and lead a team of cloud engineers, DevOps professionals, and infrastructure specialists Partner with executive leadership on technology planning, budgeting, and vendor management Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management strategies Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technical disciplines 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and managing infrastructure initiatives Extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure environments Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates Proven success implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and DevOps best practices Deep understanding of cloud networking, security, identity management, and governance Experience with container technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker Proficiency with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools Preferred Qualifications Advanced Microsoft Azure certifications Experience supporting multi-cloud environments Background in software engineering, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering Knowledge of cloud financial management and optimization practices Experience working within highly regulated industries Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Technical Environment Microsoft Azure cloud services and platform technologies Azure DevOps, GitHub, and CI/CD automation tools Terraform and infrastructure automation frameworks Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native technologies Monitoring and observability platforms Identity, security, and compliance technologies within cloud environments Why Consider This Opportunity Fully remote position within the United States Opportunity to influence enterprise cloud strategy and technology direction Leadership role with significant impact on organizational growth and modernization Competitive compensation and bonus potential Comprehensive healthcare benefits Retirement plan with company matching contributions Paid time off and company holidays Employee wellness and benefits programs
