About Us:
Porch Software is a SaaS company that makes custom tailored software for the life insurance space. Porch was founded in 2013 with the goal of modernizing how life insurance is sold through the use of technology. Our core customers are large Insurance Carriers and Broker dealers, all of whom have been in business for over 100 years. Porch is a true "started in a garage" company, the original founders are still with the company and work alongside everyone on a daily basis. Porch is not a traditional startup, but a fully bootstrapped business. We do not operate with significant debt loads and the company is financially self-sufficient without being beholden to external investors. Porch has grown to over 100 employees the last 3 years and recently moved to a new office in Draper, UT.
Job Description:
Porch is looking to expand the capacity of our information services department with an additional engineer. You will be a member of a team of technology experts who provides their knowledge and experience to the wider company. That team ensures that all of the company's various systems are maintained and functional. Whether it's ensuring today's production deployment goes well, installing security patches, or helping someone reset a forgotten password, the information services team will be there and ready to assist. This role will have a strong focus on DevOps/IT responsibilities and requires someone who is driven to solve problems and improve everything they touch. Porch is a big adopter of cloud native technologies and a member of the CNCF. We adopt CNCF technologies when possible, and use Kubernetes as a primary abstraction for infrastructure needs across all of our teams. In this role you will share the responsibility of helping to architect patterns for building and deploying applications to Kubernetes clusters.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining the functionality and security of the overall technology ecosystem, including cloud and on-site resources
  • Ensuring build and deployment systems remain functional so development teams can operate as smoothly as possible
  • Developing improvements for existing systems to address repeat or emerging issues
  • Helping to design and establish new infrastructure and technology patterns to improve the overall efficiency of the company
  • Assisting in the oversight of security operations (patch rollouts, updates, audits)
  • Supporting Porch's architecture team with new infrastructure roll-outs to support emerging technological needs
  • Overseeing production deployments, including resolving unexpected issues and evaluating actions to take when problems are encountered
  • Keeping production systems operational, (Monitoring, Secret rotations, scaling)
Minimum Requirements:
  • 5+ Years of experience with a mix of DevOps/Platform Engineering and IT roles
  • Extensive experience with deploying and maintaining Kubernetes applications
  • Linux experience, must be comfortable in a terminal environment
  • General knowledge of software development processes and methodologies
  • Experience with network and systems administration
  • Some General Windows Experience
  • General knowledge of security best practices both from an infrastructure and end user perspective
  • Experience with Git Version Control Systems Bonus Qualifications (Nice to haves, not required):
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Some programming experience, preferably C# (.NET Core)
  • Familiarity with the Argo Ecosystem (CD, Workflows)
  • Familiarity with the CNCF Landscape

Work Remotely:
  • Position will be a Hybrid position with 2 days in office per week in Draper, Utah
