Job Description
Managed Business Solutions (MBS) is looking for an experienced Level 3 Systems Engineer to handle server and infrastructure work across our managed clients. You'll work alongside a network engineer and security specialist. Day to day, you'll build and configure servers, pick up tickets that get escalated from the support team, work directly with clients, and handle the technical side of client projects. Travel to client sites is part of the job when needed, especially during project implementations. What You'll Do Engineering & Escalation Pick up tickets escalated from the support team and work them through to resolution, covering server, infrastructure, and client issues. Work directly with clients to troubleshoot problems and answer technical questions. Work alongside the network engineer and security specialist, sharing knowledge and helping with tricky configurations. Plan and carry out the build and configuration work on client projects, making sure implementations go smoothly and finish on time. Travel to client sites when needed, especially during project implementations and rollouts. Help document standards and procedures based on the fixes you put in place. Server Build & Configuration Own the design, build, configuration, and deployment of physical and virtual servers, including provisioning, OS installation, patching, and hardening. Configure and maintain Windows Server environments: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file/print services, and certificate services. Stand up and manage virtualization hosts and guests (Hyper-V and/or VMware), including resource allocation, snapshots, and host maintenance. Plan and execute server, domain, storage, and tenant migrations and upgrades with minimal client disruption. Azure & Cloud Manage Microsoft Azure for cloud infrastructure, including virtual servers, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), storage, and networking. Set up, configure, and maintain cloud-hosted servers and the Azure services that support them. Support and troubleshoot Windows Server and Windows 10/11 at an advanced level. Datto & MBS Toolset Use Datto RMM to monitor, patch, and manage endpoints and servers, and to build and run approved scripts and automations. Track work, time entries, and escalations in Autotask in line with SLA and documentation standards, and help keep the team's queues healthy. Maintain accurate, current documentation in IT Glue for assets, configurations, and procedures. Network & Security Collaboration Partner with the network engineer on network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless) and help out on harder issues. Work with the security specialist(s) to keep environments secure and aligned with MBS standards (MFA, endpoint protection, secure configuration). Bring strong cross-discipline knowledge to diagnose problems that span servers, networking, and security. What You Bring 5+ years of IT systems engineering experience, ideally in an MSP or multi-client environment, with time spent as a senior or lead engineer. Strong at implementation, able to take engineering work and projects from plan to a working setup cleanly and on schedule. Comfortable handling escalations and working independently alongside other engineers. Willing and able to travel to client sites as needed, with reliable transportation.
