Job Description

As a Principal IT Architect for Cloud Architecture and Operations at Honeywell, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic vision for cloud adoption across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will lead the development of cloud frameworks, oversee the design and implementation of scalable cloud solutions, and play a pivotal role in cloud network troubleshooting and operations activity. This role demands a technology leader with deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong IT and cloud networking experience. You will report directly to our Sr Director IT Enterprise Architect and you'll work out of our Charlotte, NC location on a Hybrid work schedule.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Vision and Roadmap Development
  • Define and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with Honeywell's business objectives.
  • Develop multi-year roadmaps for transitioning from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
  • Identify and promote innovative cloud technologies to drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with cloud vendors to establish best practices and strategic partnerships.
  • Design and Implementation of Cloud Solutions
  • Lead the design and deployment of secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure.
  • Integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and industry regulations.
  • IT and Cloud Networking and Troubleshooting
  • Implement monitoring and other cloud management tools to optimize cloud performance.
  • Troubleshoot cloud IT networking (subnets, ACLs, load balancers, DNS) related production issues, engage appropriate parties (on-premise networking team, cybersecurity, vendors), and drive through to resolution.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides and provide insight for RCA (root cause analysis).
  • Update code and troubleshoot failures in infrastructure as code scripts.
  • Cloud Architecture
  • Develop and design secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), covering compute, networking, storage, identity, and managed platform services that adhere to enterprise architecture standards.
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives (on premises to cloud platforms), leveraging services such as GCP Migration Center, Landing Zones, and cloud native architectures (microservices, containers, Kubernetes).
  • Collaborate with application teams, cybersecurity, and operations to define cloud governance, networking, and security models, implementing best practices for IAM, network segmentation, monitoring, resilience, and compliance across multi cloud environments.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Engage with senior executives to align cloud strategies with business goals.
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal users, and partners to ensure successful delivery of cloud projects.
  • Build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Stay current with cloud, GenAI and IT networking trends to drive innovation.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance IT capabilities and business value.
  • Implement feedback loops for continuous improvement in cloud operations and architecture practices.
  • YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud operations, and IT networking.
  • Proven expertise in GCP (Google Cloud Platform), with experience in AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • WE VALUE

  • Relevant industry certifications such as
Google Cloud Certified:
Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional project management skills to support architecture planning projects.
