Full Job Description The Opportunity:
Your Path to Technical Director We are a high-efficiency, 6-person Managed Service Provider (MSP) seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as our technical anchor and "Owner's Right Hand." This is a leadership-track role for an expert who wants to move away from "putting out fires" and into architecting high-level security and automation.Our Goal:
We need an expert to own the technical stack and security posture, creating the capacity for our company to scale. In return, we offer a direct path to a Technical Director position as we grow.Primary Focus:
M365, Azure, Security & AutomationM365 & AI
Governance:
Architect and secure M365 environments. Lead the deployment of Microsoft Purview (Sensitivity Labels/DLP) to ensure AI tools like Copilot are deployed securely and respect "Least Privilege" access.Azure Cloud Architecture:
Expert-level management of Azure environments , including Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Storage Accounts, and Azure Backup/Recovery Services.Operational Automation:
Act as our "Force Multiplier." Use PowerShell and Power Automate to automate manual workflows, standardize multi-tenant management, and eliminate repetitive tasks.Identity & Access:
Mastery of Entra ID (Conditional Access), Intune (Endpoint Management), and modern security frameworks (CMMC/NIST).Data Strategy:
Utilize Power BI to build dashboards that provide real-time visibility into security compliance and infrastructure health.Automation Mastery:
Act as a "Force Multiplier" by using PowerShell and Power Automate to automate repetitive tasks, client onboarding, and system health monitoring.Security & Vulnerability Lead:
Own the security stack. Manage vulnerability scanning, remediate threats, and enforce modern identity standards (Entra ID/Conditional Access).Escalation Point:
Serve as the final point of escalation for complex infrastructure issues that Tier 1/2 techs cannot resolve.Data Insights:
Utilize Power BI to build internal and client-facing dashboards that track infrastructure health and security compliance.Documentation:
A habit of creating clear SOPs so the rest of the team can replicate your work.Trustworthy & Self-Directed:
You can take a project from concept to completion and "own" the results.Work Environment Secondary Focus:
Core Infrastructure The Foundation:
Maintain and optimize the physical "plumbing" of our client networks. This includes managing Next-Gen Firewalls (Fortinet, SonicWall, or Meraki), L2/L3 Switching/VLANs , and Windows Server (2016-2022) environments. The "Player-Coach"Mentality:
While you are our top-tier engineer, you will lead by example—assisting with daily helpdesk tickets and hardware deployments when the team needs support. We are a small, agile team; no task is "beneath" anyone if it protects our clients.Office-Centric:
You prefer a professional office environment over working from home and value being physically present with your team.In-Office:
100% in-office in Olathe for high-speed collaboration with our tight-knit team.Rare On-Site Visits:
95% of work is handled from the office; rare local visits are required only for critical hardware projects or physical deployments. Required Qualifications 8-10+ Years of professional IT experience (MSP background highly preferred). M365 &Azure Mastery:
Expert-level knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud ecosystem, including Azure resource management and tenant administration.Security Mindset:
Proven experience securing data in a modern, hybrid-work world.Infrastructure Competence:
Solid understanding of firewalls, switches, and server hardware.Education/Certs:
Degree in IT/CS or equivalent veteran experience. MS-102 (M365 Administrator Expert) and AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) are highly preferred. Why Join Us?Direct Impact:
