System Engineer

nuvioIT, LLC is a Norfolk, VA-based Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and CMMC Registered Practitioner Organization (RPO). We deliver managed IT, cybersecurity operations, and compliance services to small and mid-sized businesses and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) contractors. We are looking for a hands-on Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. Someone who takes pride in building and maintaining solid, reliable IT environments and is comfortable owning a problem from start to finish. Role Overview This is a generalist role focused on real, hands-on work. You will support Microsoft 365 migrations and configurations, handle escalations from our helpdesk and SOC teams, manage Windows Server environments, work with Active Directory and Entra ID, and assist with basic networking tasks across client environments. Job Duties Support and execute Microsoft 365 migrations and tenant configurations including mailbox migrations, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and licensing setup Handle escalated tickets from helpdesk staff on Microsoft 365, endpoint, server, and networking issues that require a more experienced hand Build, configure, and manage Windows Server environments including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, and server roles Administer both on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID user and group management, GPO, hybrid identity, and basic Conditional Access Assist with basic networking tasks, VLAN configuration, switching, basic firewall rule management, and connectivity troubleshooting Document configurations, changes, and client environment details in our PSA Work across multiple client environments simultaneously managing your own ticket queue and project tasks with minimal supervision Collaborate with the security team on client onboarding and technical remediation work as needed Required Experience and Skills 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure role Windows Server administration: DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file shares, server roles and able to build and manage a server environment independently Active Directory administration: user and group management, OUs, GPO, password policies Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD): user management, MFA, basic Conditional Access, hybrid identity concepts Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, licensing Networking basics: VLANs, managed switching, basic firewall rule review and troubleshooting, comfortable using a firewall dashboard Comfortable working across multiple client environments simultaneously, prior MSP or multi-client experience strongly preferred Able to own a problem independently Preferred Qualifications Prior MSP or managed services experience Experience with Microsoft 365 migrations to include tenant-to-tenant, on-prem Exchange to Exchange Online, or similar Familiarity with
