Qualified candidates must have strong experience in high-speed physical layer systems, optical link technologies, and semiconductor product definition or standardization processes. Apply now for immediate consideration. Job Description This role is not a full design engineering position. The Systems Engineer will focus on monitoring semiconductor industry trends, standards development, and product alignment strategy. The position works closely with R D teams during the design phase to ensure next-generation products align with evolving standards and market needs. The engineer will actively participate in industry standardization groups and maintain awareness of competitive and technological developments across the semiconductor ecosystem. The role includes customer engagement, technical influence, and participation in industry forums. Key Responsibilities Define next-generation product specifications and features based on customer needs, industry trends, competitive analysis, and R D input Work closely with R D teams throughout design and development phases through production release Prepare technical materials to support and influence industry standardization efforts Attend and participate in industry standards organizations (IEEE, OIF, SFF, PCI-SIG) Monitor and analyze semiconductor industry trends and competitive landscape Engage with key customers to understand technical challenges and promote product solutions Ensure alignment between product development and evolving high-speed networking standards Support cross-functional collaboration across engineering, marketing, and product teams Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required (Master's preferred) 10+ years of semiconductor Product Definition and/or Standardization experience Direct experience with high-speed physical layer components including laser drivers, TIAs, DSPs, and equalizers Strong understanding of optical link systems and technologies Experience participating in industry standardization bodies and technical working groups Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit knowledge Experience with networking technologies and high-speed data communication systems Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to interface across all organizational levels Self-driven with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment Willingness to travel 20%+ including potential international travel Must meet U.S. Person requirements per ITAR regulations (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylum/refugee status, or U.S. national) The Planet Group is a global professional services firm delivering strategic staffing and advisory solutions.
