Systems Engineer I Newport, RI req1851 Posted on: 5/7/2026 SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Systems Engineer I.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
 SEACORP is actively seeking a full-time Test Engineer to join our team in Middletown, RI. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a highly skilled group dedicated to the development of Undersea Warfare (USW) training systems. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional personnel—including testers, software developers, systems engineers, and cybersecurity experts from the U.S. Navy, Naval Warfare Centers, and industry partners—to comprehensively evaluate diverse training platforms. While this role primarily operates during standard business hours, overtime and travel may be required to support critical project objectives.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Develop, modify, and execute comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and test reports. Conduct testing, evaluation, and design verification for systems under development, ensuring thorough requirements traceability. Apply specialized working knowledge of AN/BYG-1, Navigation, Electronic Warfare Support Measures (ESM), and/or SONAR systems to optimize system evaluations. Manage, track, and address Problem Trouble Reports (PTRs) identified throughout the testing lifecycle. Extract and synthesize complex engineering data from diverse sources, including field notes, technical manuals, and laboratory reports. Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware- and software-related anomalies.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required. Advanced submarine technical training (e.g. Navy "A" or "C" School) and a minimum of 5 years of Submarine Systems experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
Experience:
 2+ years of related experience, specifically working with submarine combat, sonar, navigation or radio systems.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
Experience with Linux Operating systems, GIT Jira and test automation is a plus. Ability to work independently and in a team dynamic with a self-starter mindset. Ability to conduct troubleshooting and testing with procedures. Ability to support traveling to sites to support navy submarine trainers' installation and testing. Excellent communications skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Critical thinker with a continuous learning mindset. Ability to work effectively with developers, clients, and leadership. Must be able to obtain and hold a DoD Secret level clearance. As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S.
