Systems Engineer I City of Katy | Katy, Texas | Full-Time About the Role The City of Katy is looking for a Systems Engineer I who enjoys solving problems and helping people. In this role, you'll be the go-to resource for employees needing IT support, while also playing an important part in keeping the City's technology secure, reliable, and running smoothly. What You'll Do Be the first point of contact for IT questions and issues, providing friendly, helpful support to end users Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity problems and see them through to resolution Log and manage service requests in the ITSM system, keeping everything organized and on track Set up and maintain computers, laptops, and mobile devices so employees have the tools they need to succeed Manage user accounts and access through Active Directory Help keep systems secure and up to date with regular monitoring, patching, and updates Work with senior IT staff on network, server, and infrastructure support when needed Identify recurring issues and help implement long-term fixes Support IT projects like system upgrades, new software rollouts, and equipment refreshes Step in during emergencies to help ensure City operations continue without interruption What You Bring An associate degree in IT (or similar experience) and at least two years in a technical support role A solid understanding of Windows, Microsoft Office, and basic networking concepts A problem-solving mindset and a willingness to dig in and figure things out Strong communication skills-you can explain technical issues in a way people understand A team-oriented approach and a genuine desire to help others Additional Details Valid Texas driver's license required Certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ are a plus Primarily office-based, with occasional physical activity (lifting equipment up to 50 lbs) Designated as Essential Critical Infrastructure personnel Why Join the City of Katy?
