Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and compliant cloud infrastructure supporting a nationwide financial services organization. This role serves as a senior technical contributor and mentor within the infrastructure team, driving cloud modernization, operational excellence, infrastructure automation, and continuous improvement across Azure-based and hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code, cloud security, automation, CI/CD, and enterprise cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain secure, highly available Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting mission-critical financial services applications. Implement cloud architecture best practices including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, monitoring, resiliency, and governance. Support cloud-native, containerized, and hybrid workloads across development, testing, and production environments. Collaborate with application, security, compliance, and operations teams to align cloud solutions with enterprise architecture and regulatory requirements. Ensure cloud environments meet security, risk management, compliance, and governance standards. Implement and manage identity, access management, encryption, logging, monitoring, and security controls. Support incident response activities, root cause analysis, and infrastructure reliability improvements. Develop and maintain cloud standards, operational procedures, architecture documentation, and technical runbooks. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the infrastructure team. Participate in cloud modernization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Design and support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions aligned with RPO/RTO objectives. Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
Required Skills:
Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services including: Azure Compute Azure Storage Azure Networking Azure Identity Services Azure Containers Azure Serverless Technologies Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience. Minimum 3+ years of production experience with Terraform and Azure Bicep. Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise.
Advanced automation experience using:
PowerShell Python Azure CLI Extensive experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using: Azure DevOps GitHub Actions Strong experience with Azure Security and Governance technologies: Microsoft Defender for Cloud Azure Sentinel Azure Key Vault Azure RBAC Azure Policy Strong understanding of: OAuth OpenID Connect (OIDC) Identity and Access Management (IAM) Experience with container technologies: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure Container Apps Docker Experience supporting hybrid networking solutions: ExpressRoute VPN DNS Private Endpoints Expertise in monitoring and observability tools: Azure Monitor Log Analytics Application Insights Kusto Query Language (KQL) Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience working in highly available enterprise production environments.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks:
PCI-DSS SOX GLBA FFIEC SOC 2
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in: Computer Science Information Technology Related Technical Discipline Equivalent professional experience considered
