Job Requirements Tysons, VA Top Secret/SCI Full Scope Polygraph Career Level not specified Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description Join a collaborative engineering team in the Tysons Corner, VA area supporting critical infrastructure and applications across enterprise environments. We are seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performing systems while supporting modern DevOps and automation practices. This role is responsible for maintaining application infrastructure across multiple networks, ensuring systems meet security compliance requirements, and supporting operational reliability. The position also includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities System Design & Implementation:
Design, install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools
Monitoring & Maintenance:
Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability
Security & Compliance:
Implement and maintain security controls, ensuring systems meet compliance requirements and best practices
Backup & Recovery:
Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans
Automation & Scripting:
Create and maintain scripts to automate processes and improve system efficiency
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve complex issues across hardware, software, and network environments
Collaboration:
Partner with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions
Documentation:
Maintain clear and detailed documentation for system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
Technology Evaluation:
Research and recommend new tools, technologies, and system enhancements Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or related technical roles Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or similar Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Preferred Qualifications Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Experience with testing frameworks and automation tools
