Job Description

MongoDB Systems Engineer Kirkland, Washington Contract The Senior MongoDB Systems Engineer will a key role in executing a large-scale data platform migration across AWS environments and integration with a de-identification platform for regulated data. The engineer will design and implement a resilient, low-risk migration strategy while ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and minimal service disruption. In addition to migration responsibilities, this role will serve as a technical advisor on MongoDB performance and replica set behavior, helping guide engineering teams through scaling and data growth challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide design, execute and support to a MongoDB migration across AWS environments with minimal downtime Ensure data integrity, validation, and safe cutover and rollback strategies Configure and optimize replica sets Analyze and improve query performance Evaluate and validate backup and restore processes Partner with other engineers to successful implement de-identification platform Provide guidance and best practices for MongoDB usage across engineering teams
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
10+ years engineering experience with strong MongoDB focus Proven experience operating self-managed MongoDB clusters Hands-on experience with large-scale MongoDB migrations Strong skills in: Query performance tuning and indexing Replication behavior and failure scenarios Experience in AWS Exposure to regulated healthcare data environments is preferred Familiarity with de-identification pipelines is preferred
