Job Description

Job Title:
Senior System Engineer Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux System Engineer to join our team supporting a critical government computer system. This role is responsible for the management, maintenance, and security of a large-scale, enterprise-level infrastructure. The environment is heavily reliant on VMware for virtualization, BMC True Sight Server Automation (TSSA) for compliance, patching, and Ansible for robust configuration management and automation. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in enterprise Linux environments and a passion for automation and security.
Location:
Kearneysville, WV Required Qualifications:
U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret or higher security clearance. 6-10 years of experience as a Linux System Engineer with deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in an enterprise setting. Proficiency Strong proficiency in VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) for, managing, and troubleshooting virtualized server environments. Automation Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining complex Ansible playbooks for configuration management and infrastructure automation. Proven experience with
DISA STIG
system hardening, security patching, and ensuring compliance. High proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python to automate administrative tasks and streamline operations. Experience preparing or maintaining security documentation and coordinating with government security officials. Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills. Dod 8140/8570 Certification for
IATII:
CCNA Security, GSCIP, GSEC, Sec+ CE, SSCP, SecurityX, CISA, CISSP, GCED, or GCIH.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting mixed DoD and DHS programs or cross-agency initiatives.
  • Direct hands-on experience using BMC True Sight Server Automation for automated patch management and compliance enforcement.
  • Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • Knowledge Familiarity with containerization technologies like REST API's, OpenShift, Docker or Kubernetes, and their integration into enterprise workflows.
  • Engineer with basic understanding of Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Installs, configures, updates, and hardens Linux operations systems and software. Collaborates with other system administrators to ensure system security by implementing appropriate measures, such as firewall and intrusion detection systems. Regularly applies security patches. Maintains system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Stays up to date with the latest Linux developments, vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies. Assists in planning and executing infrastructure projects, such as server migrations and upgrades. Utilize BMC True Sight Server Automation (TSSA) to troubleshoot automated scripts and jobs to ensure system compliance, and report on security configurations against government baselines (e.g., DISA STIGs). Engineer who identifies potential issues and proactively investigates and remediates problems. Administer, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in both virtual and physical environments. Manage the VMware vSphere infrastructure, including the deployment, and troubleshooting of virtual machines and hosts. Develop, maintain, and execute Ansible playbooks to automate system configurations, application deployments, and other repetitive administrative tasks. Implement and maintain robust security controls, conduct vulnerability remediation, and ensure all systems are compliant with federal security standards. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Pay:
$115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
