Job Description

Role Overview This role is for someone who can own networking work end-to-end : firewall replacements, network refreshes, site cutovers, and clean configurations that don't create tomorrow's fires. You'll plan the change, execute the change, document the change, and verify the change. Success is measured by stable installs, tight security, clean documentation, and fewer recurring network issues, not by how busy you look. Key Responsibilities Plan and execute firewall replacements (cutover plans, backups, rollback plans, validation) Configure and troubleshoot firewall policies (NAT, rules, security profiles, content filtering as applicable) Build and support site-to-site VPNs , client VPN, and secure remote access Design and implement VLANs, routing, switching , and segmentation aligned to standards Configure and optimize Wi-Fi networks (coverage planning, SSIDs, security, performance tuning) Perform network refresh projects: switch replacements, uplinks, port configs, rack cleanups, cabling coordination Diagnose complex network issues (latency, packet loss, DNS/DHCP, loop storms, misroutes, duplex issues, etc.) Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for circuit turn-ups, outages, and escalations Create/update network documentation: diagrams, IP schemes, device configs, standards, and "what changed" notes Follow change management: approvals, maintenance windows, user comms, post-change verification Participate in an on-call / after-hours cutover rotation as needed (we plan ahead, we don't live in chaos) What Success Looks Like Consistently delivering firewall/network cutovers on time with clean rollback plans Network-related incidents drop because fixes are root-cause , not band-aids Configs are standardized and documented so anyone can support the environment You become the "go-to" for clean network builds—because your work doesn't create repeat tickets Clients trust your presence and communication during high-stakes changes You help us tighten baselines across the client base Our Non-Negotiables / Culture We're not interested in excuses. We're interested in results, ownership, and standards.
Extreme Ownership:
if it breaks, we own it and fix the system Discipline is non-negotiable: we do the work right, even when no one's watching High standards in all things: configs, documentation, communication, follow-through Continuous learning: you sharpen your skills and stay current Family & legacy matter: we work hard, but we do it with purpose If you want a place to coast, this isn't it. If you want to build real skill and be proud of your work, keep reading. Our Non-Negotiables / Culture We operate with high standards and clear expectations. These are not slogans — they are the behaviors we hire, coach, and evaluate against. If these don't resonate with how you work, this role will not be a fit. Family & Legacy Matter We believe strong people build strong families and take pride in the legacy they are creating through their work. Discipline Is Non-Negotiable You do what you say you'll do, when you say you'll do it. Reliability matters here. Unwavering Work Ethic This is not a place to coast. We expect consistent effort, urgency, and follow-through. Continuous Learning & Growth You are committed to improving your skills, your mindset, and your results. Extreme Ownership We take responsibility for outcomes. No victim mentality. Problems get owned and solved. No Tolerance for Excuses We value solutions, adjustments, and accountability over explanations. High Standards in All Things Clean work, clean documentation, clean handoffs. Laser Focus on Priorities You focus on what moves the needle and avoid busywork or distractions. Relentless Pursuit of Excellence We continuously raise the bar — personally, professionally, and as a team. If you want a place to coast, this isn't it. Requirements/Must-Haves 3+ years hands-on experience with networking and firewall configuration in production environments Proven experience leading firewall replacements/cutovers (not just "I helped once") Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, NAT, VPNs Ability to troubleshoot logically under pressure and communicate clearly during incidents/cutovers Strong documentation habits (diagrams, configs, notes that another tech can actually use) Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for onsite work as needed Nice-to-Haves (Preferred) Experience with common SMB firewall platforms (Fortinet, SonicWall, Meraki, Palo Alto SMB, etc.) Experience with managed switching/Wi-Fi platforms (Meraki, UniFi, Aruba Instant On, etc.) Certifications (Network+, CCNA, NSE, vendor certs)
MSP / IT
services company background (you understand ticketing, standards, and multi-client environments) Compensation & Benefits Competitive W-2 compensation based on experience and capability Health benefits (if applicable), paid time off, and paid holidays Training/certification support for the right person Company tools/equipment provided Clear growth path for high performers (no politics, just a scoreboard)
