Internship, Detection Engineer, Information Security (Summer 2026) Tesla Motors, Inc. 38.00 - 53.00 USD paid holidays, flex time, 401(k) United States, California, Fremont Mar 15, 2026 What to Expect Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program.

Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About the Team Tesla Security Engineering is responsible for the digital and physical security systems that protect Tesla's people, places, and intellectual property. We develop relationships with internal partners, design and build security systems, grow the security program with industry suppliers and integration partners to perform work, and provide support for business operations after construction is complete. What You'll Do Define, implement, and tune detection capabilities to detect & remediate malicious activity Analyze adversarial techniques and develop detection approaches across our diverse environments Analyze and interpret complex log data to identify relevant information Develop and apply advanced statistical or machine learning models to identify anomalous behavioral patterns in organizational data Design and implement scalable monitoring processes to ensure detection mechanisms are functioning as intended and generating actionable insights Analyze data trends and detection outcomes to continuously improve the performance and accuracy of risk-based alerting systems Document processes, workflows, and methodologies to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and scalability of solutions What You'll Bring Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field of study with a gradation date between August 2026 - June 2027 Willing to relocate and work on site in Fremont, CA Experience in one or more of the following areas: Detection Engineering, Incident Response, Security Operations, DFIR, Security DevOps, SecOps, Security Product Development preferred Experience with detection & response technologies (SIEM, EDR, CNAPP, NDR, NDIS/NIPS, SIGMA, YARA), security automation SOAR tools, IT automation, and/or custom automation methods is a huge plus Experience working with/in Linux containers & orchestration systems (Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS Familiarity with security event correlation, data visualization, graphing, timelines, trending, behavioral analytics and/or anomaly detection is a plus Experience utilizing machine learning models to detect anomalies and predict potential issues is a plus Critical thinking, problem-solving & investigative mindset; ability to operate at scale and adapt to change in complex and diverse environments Compensation and Benefits Benefits As a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
