Dean, Business & IT JobSummary HawkeyeCommunity College is seeking a full-time faculty member to provide high-quality instruction at thecollege's main campus in NetworkAdministration / Cybersecurity. Teaching at a community college is a unique and rewarding challenge.

You're often working with a widearray of students—from traditional college students to adult learners returning for a career pivot. In thisrole, you will do more thandeliver lectures; you will be a mentor and facilitator of hands-on learning for students in our NetworkAdministration and Cybersecuritydegree programs. Studentsare guided with support from faculty which possess both the necessary academic credentials and industryexperience within their respectivedisciplines. Program faculty also work with area industry professionals to keep current with the needs oflocal employers and incorporatethese skills and competencies into program coursework. We are looking for a dedicated,student-orientated, enthusiastic andknowledgeable educator who brings both passion for teaching and a strong foundation in networkadministration and cybersecurity to studentsat our main campus. The primary instructional assignments will include proactive computer andnetwork security. A thorough knowledge ofcybersecurity, network security, detection, analysis and countermeasures are essential. The personin this position will design and developnew coursework to maintain the College as a leading-edge provider. This role offers theopportunity to make a meaningful impact bydelivering dynamic instruction. We are interested in finding a knowledgeable, positiveprofessional role model to inspire our students andwork with a strong faculty team. The college provides a two-year faculty induction &mentoring program to support our newest faculty membersto assist them with success. Hawkeye Community College is a comprehensivecommunity college focused on meeting the needs of thecommunity by providing quality, affordable learning experiences for a wide array ofstudents through our Adult Learning Center, Business andCommunity Education Department as well as through more than 50 career and technicalprograms and liberal arts transfer programs. Essential JobFunctions Importantresponsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepares daily instructional plans andmaterials. Delivers high-quality instruction in face-to-face classes. Employs various instructional methods andmaterials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assessing accomplishments ofstudents on a regular basis, and providingprogress reports as requested and required. Develops and maintains curriculum forassigned courses. Assists with studentrecruitment, retention and mentoring. Uses data-driven insights to refineteaching methods and improve student retention andsuccess rates. Coordinates guest speakers, field trips, or service-learningopportunities. Participates in departmental,committee and professional development activities. Maintains cooperativerelationships with the Dean, supervisors, other faculty,Advisory Committees, all divisions of the College, and the community. Interacts with students, faculty, and staff, occurring inperson, via telephone, email, and other digital communication platforms on aregular basis. Performs other duties asassigned. Unless otherwise approved, regular on campus and/or onsite attendanceis considered an essential function of theposition. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: Option 1: Bachelor's degree or higher inNetwork Administration,Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or closely related field. Or bachelor's degree in any area of study with at least18 completed credit hoursin IT/Cybersecurity coursework. Option 2: Associate degree in Network Administration orCybersecurity or closelyrelated field plus 3,000 hours (2 years) of recent and relevant work experience. Option 3: Specialized trainingand at least 6,000 hours (3 years) of recent and relevant work experience.
Note:
For licensed educators with aCTE endorsement under IowaCode chapter 256, relevant work experience may include secondary CTE classroom instruction. Demonstrated relevant ITknowledge and experience. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new and current technical skills andideas. Demonstrated strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated excellent written and verbalcommunicationskills. Demonstrated motivation to serve people from all backgrounds and educational experiences. Demonstrated abilityto work with a wide array of people in a professional and personable manner. PreferredQualifications Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Linux+, PenTest+,CCNA, CISSP, SANS, or CEH. Prior teaching or training experience. Community college experience. Post-secondaryteaching experience Bachelor's or Master's Degree in IT Security or related discipline. WorkingConditions Instructors are expected to teach approximately five days per week (usually Monday-Friday), withassignments that may include day, evening, or weekend courses delivered in face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats. Work is performedeither in an office and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboardand read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequentlyduring working hours. During the course of the day, interact with students, faculty, staff and healthcare organizations in person, bytelephone and computers. Requires frequent driving to and from clinical sites. Employment Status Full time 12-month contractual position to start Fall 2026 with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health,dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick leave; tuitionreimbursement and/or remission; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). Beginning salaries are determined by education and experience based on the Hawkeye Professional Educators' Association MasterAgreement. The 2026/2027 Academic Year 12-month faculty pay structure consists of 20 steps with Step 1 as $61,141 through Step 20as $80,814.
