Join Mizuho as a Cyber Security Engineer! We are seeking a technical Security Engineer to lead our cyber security initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in complex systems architecture and cross-functional engineering. They should be familiar with how to develop and solve problems in ways that scale with the growth of an organization. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience and the ability to lead and drive projects/solutions to completion. Project and day to day work may focus on making improvements to existing tools like EDR, Vulnerability Management, IPS, SIEM/SOAR, Network Monitoring Tools, CASB/SASE, and others.
Key Responsibilities:
The engineer is responsible for providing additional oversight of the security engineering function. They are expected to call out and highlight gaps/deficiencies and identify compensating controls that can be put in place by the broader team. They will be responsible for reporting on projects and BAU items to the Director of Security, guiding/leading other team members, and may serve as a backup as necessary. Required to be part of on-call rotation with the rest of the security engineering team.
Qualifications:
Proven experience leading security engineering or cyber defense teams at scale, ideally in complex, distributed environments. Deep understanding of modern security operations, detection engineering, and automation frameworks. Strong technical background with experience in systems engineering, software development, or network architecture. Expertise with tools and platforms such as: Splunk, XSOAR, CrowdStrike, ExtraHop/Reveal(x), Netskope, Tenable JIRA, GitLab, Ansible Scripting proficiency in Python and/or PowerShell Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive large-scale security initiatives. Understanding of the SDLC and project management concepts Working knowledge of Linux and Windows OSes required. Excellent communication and executive presentation skills. Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. The expected base salary ranges from $111,000 - $180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus. #LI-Hybrid
