Job Description

ROLE - OUTSIDE PROJECT MANAGER WORK TYPE - FULL-TIME ABOUT THE ROLE
Oversees installation projects for fire alarm, security, access control, and CCTV systems. Reports directly to the Operations Manager. Responsible for coordinating on-site work, managing technicians and subcontractors, communicating with customers and general contractors, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with NFPA, NEC, and AHJ requirements.
REQUIREMENT
3+ years of experience in fire alarm, security, access control, or CCTV system installation or project management. Strong understanding of
NFPA 72, NEC
standards, low-voltage installation practices, and AHJ inspection processes. Proven ability to coordinate field teams and maintain project schedules. Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, plans, and technical documents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fire Alarm License required. Valid driver's license; ability to travel to project sites daily. Must participate in on call rotation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PROJECT PLANNING & COORDINATION
Work closely with the Operations Manager, Installation, and Service teams to ensure successful deployment across multiple locations. Review project scope, drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Develop project timelines, installation schedules, and manpower plans. Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and site access requirements. Conduct pre-construction site walks to identify constraints and verify readiness.
ON-SITE PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, general contractors, inspectors, and stakeholders. Support field technicians with scope clarification, technical guidance, and daily task planning. Ensure work is performed according to engineered drawings, company standards, and applicable codes. Work hand in hand with Field Technicians to complete the project when necessary.
QUALITY ASSURANCE & COMPLIANCE
Perform regular site inspections to verify installation quality, device placement, labeling, and code compliance. Oversee commissioning, functional testing, and system verification for fire, security, access control, and camera systems. Prepare for and coordinate AHJ inspections when required.
DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
Maintain accurate project logs, photos, notes, and updates in FieldHub or related project management software. Track labor hours, material usage, and change orders. Provide weekly progress reports to internal leadership and customers.
CUSTOMER & STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION
Deliver clear project updates, resolve site issues, and manage expectations with professionalism. Coordinate training and system handoff with customers at project completion.
PROJECT CLOSEOUT
Ensure punch list completion, documentation accuracy, and site turnover requirements are met. Submit final project documentation (as-builts, test sheets, photos, commissioning data).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS NICET
certification (Fire Alarm Level I-II preferred). Experience with access control platforms, networked CCTV systems, and fire alarm programming. Previous construction or general contracting coordination experience. Familiarity with FieldHub, Procore, or similar project management software.
