Job Description

Senior IT SOX Auditor Our client is seeking a Senior IT SOX Auditor to support and execute critical IT compliance and internal control testing activities within a complex enterprise environment. This individual will play a key role in evaluating the effectiveness of IT controls, partnering with stakeholders across the organization, and ensuring audit work is performed with a high degree of quality, accuracy, and professionalism. The ideal candidate is a self-directed audit professional with strong SOX expertise, exceptional documentation skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across technical and business teams. This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon. Senior IT SOX Auditor Responsibilities Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of IT General Controls (ITGC) and SOX compliance testing activities. Perform control testing procedures and evaluate results in accordance with established audit methodologies and external audit requirements. Assess the design and operating effectiveness of IT controls and identify potential control deficiencies or improvement opportunities. Facilitate walkthroughs with process owners and stakeholders to validate control execution, documentation, and compliance requirements. Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers, testing evidence, and conclusions that support efficient review and reliance by external auditors. Collaborate with control owners, compliance teams, and audit leadership to validate findings and support timely issue resolution. Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and audit status to management and key stakeholders. Recommend enhancements to testing procedures and audit approaches to improve efficiency and coverage. Senior IT SOX Auditor Qualifications Extensive experience performing IT General Controls (ITGC) testing within a SOX-regulated environment. Strong knowledge of SOX compliance requirements, IT auditing principles, internal controls, and audit standards. Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple audit activities while meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Experience evaluating control design, testing control effectiveness, and documenting audit conclusions. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels. Proven ability to produce thorough, organized, and review-ready audit documentation. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities. Collaborative mindset with experience working closely with auditors, compliance teams, and business stakeholders. Professional certification such as CISA is preferred.
