Job Description

Full Time Day Shift General Summary Provides strategic and operational leadership for the System's technology architecture, ensuring that enterprise systems, data platforms, and infrastructure evolve in alignment with organizational goals, security standards, and strategic vision. Leads the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function and serves as the executive sponsor for the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and other technical Centers of Excellence (e.g., Data, Integration, DevOps, and Digital Workplace), fostering innovation, standardization, and reusability across the enterprise. Acts as the bridge between strategic intent and technical execution, driving modernization, interoperability, and agility across the health system's digital ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture Leadership:
Defines and maintains the enterprise technology architecture strategy, principles, and roadmap aligned to the System's business and clinical priorities. Leads development of reference architectures, patterns, and standards across infrastructure, cloud, application, data, and security domains. Partners with the CTO, CIO, and senior business leaders to translate enterprise goals into actionable architectural blueprints. Ensures technology investments are aligned, interoperable, secure, and cost-effective, reducing duplication and technical debt. Establishes and chairs an Architecture Review Board (ARB) to govern enterprise technology decisions. Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE): Serves as the executive leader of the Cloud Center of Excellence, accountable for the strategy, governance, and operational maturity of the System's AWS (and multi-cloud) environments. Oversees cloud adoption frameworks, migration methodologies, and service catalogs in partnership with CloudOps and Security teams. Drives cloud financial management (FinOps), ensuring cost transparency, right-sizing, and optimization. Guides enterprise-wide cloud skills development, certification programs, and workforce enablement. Centers of Excellence (CoEs): Establishes and leads additional Centers of Excellence (e.g., Data & Analytics, Integration & API, DevOps, Digital Workplace) that accelerate technology innovation and standardization. Promotes cross-functional collaboration and shared best practices across these CoEs to create an integrated technology ecosystem. Measures and reports on CoE performance and business value delivered.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
Partners with IS leadership to develop multi-year roadmaps for infrastructure, applications, and digital transformation. Provides architectural oversight for large-scale initiatives (e.g., cloud migration, Epic modernization, cybersecurity transformation). Evaluates emerging technologies and vendors to drive innovation and resiliency. Participates in IT governance, capital planning, and investment prioritization processes.
Leadership and Culture:
Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing team of enterprise, solution, and domain architects. Builds a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning across the architecture and CoE communities. Represents the architecture function to senior executives, boards, and external partners.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required with a Masters Degree preferred 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years leading enterprise architecture or cloud strategy functions required. Experience with AWS cloud adoption frameworks, FinOps practices, and modern architecture disciplines (e.g., microservices, containers, DevSecOps) required
TOGAF, AWS
Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent enterprise architecture credentials preferred. Demonstrated success building and scaling a Cloud Center of Excellence and governing enterprise-wide architectures Proven record of leading cross-functional teams through large-scale technology transformations in complex, regulated environments (healthcare experience preferred) Strategic thinker with strong analytical and communication skills Influential leader who can navigate executive, clinical, and technical environments Skilled in balancing innovation, risk, cost, and operational reliability
