Hire Job Summary The Network Penetration Testing Lead is responsible for leading and maturing network?focused offensive security testing programs to evaluate an organization's infrastructure security and resilience. This role blends hands?on technical penetration testing expertise with program leadership, strategic guidance, and cross?functional collaboration. The role focuses on validating enterprise network defenses, identifying systemic control gaps, and translating technical risk into actionable recommendations for both technical teams and business leadership. Key Responsibilities Network Penetration Testing & Validation Lead and execute structured network penetration tests across internal, external, and hybrid enterprise environments. Assess network architecture security, segmentation, firewall rule effectiveness, and access controls. Identify end?to?end attack paths and systemic weaknesses rather than isolated vulnerabilities. Validate security control effectiveness through real?world exploitation and testing scenarios. Strategy & Program Leadership Align penetration testing strategy with business objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements. Translate business drivers and technology initiatives into targeted testing approaches and capability recommendations. Maintain continuous improvement practices to evolve testing methodologies, tooling, and reporting. Guide adoption of new testing techniques, automation, and data?driven validation methods. Engagement Planning & Governance Plan and manage testing engagements, including scope definition, objectives, constraints, and coordination with stakeholders. Administer internal and third?party testing activities, ensuring adherence to security policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks. Manage risk through disciplined execution, issue escalation, and clear documentation of findings. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with IT, Infrastructure, Security Operations, Risk Management, and Business teams to ensure alignment and coordination. Lead cross?functional offensive testing initiatives that support broader cybersecurity and resiliency goals. Provide regulatory and policy compliance guidance related to penetration testing activities. Reporting & Communication Produce clear, prioritized reports that communicate technical findings, business impact, and remediation recommendations. Present results to both technical teams and non?technical stakeholders, including leadership. Deliver measurable reporting that supports cybersecurity risk and resiliency programs. Continuous Improvement & Industry Awareness Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving attacker techniques to mature testing practices. Ensure consistent application of internal standards and best practices across testing activities. Required Qualifications 7+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity or related technical disciplines such as penetration testing, networking, firewalls, systems administration, cloud platforms, or software engineering. 2+ years of hands?on experience performing penetration testing, particularly network?focused assessments. Strong understanding of enterprise network architecture and cybersecurity fundamentals. Advanced knowledge of adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) as they relate to network attacks. Proficiency with open?source and commercial security testing tools. Strong experience working across UNIX/Linux and Microsoft operating systems. Knowledge of security testing standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST 800?53, NIST 800?115). Ability to clearly communicate technical risk to both technical and non?technical audiences. Strong analytical, problem?solving, and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Penetration testing or offensive security certifications (e.g., OSCP, CEH, GPEN, or equivalent). Professional security certifications (e.g., CISSP, GCIH, CCNP, RHCE). Experience testing hybrid or cloud?integrated networks. Background working in regulated or large enterprise environments.
