Job Description:
Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA), as part of the Research, Science, and Engineering Services (RSES) contract, is seeking a Mission Assurance Manager to support NASA programs by ensuring projects meet Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA), quality, and reliability requirements. This role partners with project managers, chief engineers, and SMA subjectmatter experts to assess technical risks, evaluate engineering products, and ensure compliance with NASA safety and quality standards. This is Part Time Casual position. The hourly rate is $80-$90/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and review system safety analyses, hazard assessments, PRAs, FTAs, FMEAs, FMECAs, and reliability/maintainability evaluations. Ensure compliance with
NASA SMA
directives including
NPR 8715.3, NPR 8705.5, NPR 8735.2, NPR
7120.5/7120.8, and
NASASTD8739
series. Support development and review of Safety & Mission Assurance Plans (SMAP), Product Assurance Plans (PAP), and Software Assurance documentation. Review workmanship and hardware quality processes; participate in MRBs and nonconformance/anomaly disposition. Provide mission assurance expertise during integration, rework, modifications, and preflight activities across NASA centers. Contribute to milestone reviews, technical documentation, and safety/risk trade studies. Track safety and quality metrics and support documentation accuracy and issue resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering. 8+ years of experience in mission assurance, safety engineering, reliability engineering, or systems engineering. Experience with safety and reliability tools such as PRA, FTA, hazard analysis, RAM assessments, FMEA/FMECA. Familiarity with NASA SMA and quality standards and processes (NPR 8715.3, NPR 8705.5, NPR 8735.2, NPR 7120.5/7120.8, NASASTD8739 series). Experience supporting workmanship, hardware quality, or nonconformance/anomaly processes. Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills. Ability to collaborate across engineering, SMA, QA, and project management teams. US Citizen (required for NASA mission support roles).
