Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer to support the analysis, design, development, and ongoing support of a modern Azure-based data platform and data lake environment. This individual will play a key role in advancing data warehousing, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities, partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate has experience in Azure data engineering, heavy SQL-based data modeling, and hands-on experience building and managing ETL pipelines in a cloud environment. Experience with Azure Synapse, ADF, and Microsoft Fabric is highly valued, with an upcoming migration to Fabric planned. Key Responsibilities + Design, build, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions leveraging an existing Azure Data Lake + Develop and manage data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) + Build and optimize data warehouse and data mart structures (raw → curated layers) + Perform data ingestion, transformation, and modeling using SQL and Python + Develop and maintain SQL views, tables, datasets, and semantic models for reporting + Support and enhance business intelligence solutions using Power BI, including DAX development + Monitor and refine data pipelines and data lake performance + Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness across all datasets + Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate needs into technical solutions + Contribute to data standards, design methodologies, and best practices + Assist with upcoming migration planning and adoption of Microsoft Fabric Required Qualifications + 5+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience + Strong experience building and optimizing ETL/data pipelines + Advanced SQL skills, including heavy modeling and transformation logic + Experience with: + Azure Synapse + Azure Data Factory (ADF) + Modern cloud data warehousing environments (Azure Data Platform, SQL Server) + Experience managing datasets, dataflows, and deployment pipelines + Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines + Experience in an internal customer‑facing role gathering and translating business requirements Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills + Experience with Microsoft Fabric (or upcoming migration exposure) + Python for data processing and orchestration + Power BI report development and DAX + Experience supporting or working within small, collaborative data teams Team & Environment + Small, collaborative data team consisting of developers, analysts, and reporting specialists + Hybrid support model with some third‑party data engineering involvement + Opportunity to influence architecture, standards, and platform evolution Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.
